I have had some great finds in charity shops though!! If you have a hunt - or ask the assistant - there are great packets of stockings from decades back to be had!

la magia - who have already been mentioned on the forum elsewhere - carry seamed stockings from What Katie Did and Kiss Me Deadly.
They carry hosiery at figleaves.com too
and these hold up are fab! http://www.figleaves.com/uk/product....p578855-front#

Also GASH in sheffield sell some gorgeous Jonathan Astor ones in champagne with either red or black seams. You would need suspenders with them but they are beautiful I think they are about £6, they also sell them in John Lewis if they don's have any in GASH.
Also pandora's box is great for all sorts of vintage style underwear, they also stock what katie did stockings
If all else fails ebay is always good.

I don't think that they do. But they do sell some stunning underwear.
Just after christmas they had a sale on bullet bra's they were reduced from £24 down to £12 I couldn't believe my luck, so I got 3 sets for just over £30 which is an absolute bargin.
But if your in the area it's worth a look.

I think they might have stopped selling Jonathan Aston stockings in John Lewis - they haven't had any the last three times I've been in.
Pretty Polly are good quality; five pounds a pair; we sell them at Debenhams.

And if all else fails, paint a fine line of gravy browning up the back of your leg!!
True World War II 'vintage' style!!

Wasn't it gravy browning over the whole leg to give the illusion of the stocking, and then eyeliner for the seam?

I guess they would have had to kept their legs silky smooth...
