    Default Vintage/Repro Flat shoes

    Hi all,
I am totally shoe clueless and I wondered if anyone could advise me. I am looking for a pair of comfortable flat shoes that are easy to walk in (I walk a lot) that would look good with 40s/50s day dresses/skirts and tops.

Ideally, I would like to buy something modern that has the right sort of look as I think that would be easier than trying to locate actual vintage shoes.

Someone mentioned Keds but when I googled them they looked just like plimpsoles - is that right? Is that the sort of thing people wore with a day skirt back then. I don't really want sandals as it's not warm enough yet and ballet pumps are so thin in the sole I just wear right through them. If anyone has any suggestions of brands or styles to look for or any source pictures I would be super grateful.

    Hugs

What about low wedges ? You can get lots of retro deisgns like stripes and nautical themes and they are supposed to be comfortable and better than heels (I dont wear them so I cant really say! )

My best bargain was £5 ASDA black pumps - the sole didnt wear away, they were really comfortable and didnt pinch so not blisters! Not sure if they'll have them again this year but I wore them right into early winter with stripey tights/socks.

I have recently discovered that New Look are really good for pumps and shoes in general ... they have plenty of not so nice shoes, but in between all those nasty items lay some little gems!

There is one round the corner from where I work (unfortunately!) and I have bought quite a few pairs of little pumps recently ... mostly reduced to £3! I have also bought loads of evening shoes that would be very passable for 1950's esque. One of my favourite purchases of the moment is a pair of "saddle shoe" type (like the ones Agapanthus posted) but with a heel in black & white ... I have been wearing those to work a lot with plain black shift dresses. They only cost £10 in a sale.

My local New Look also had some light tan saddle shoes recently

how about brogues, again New Look do some great ones, i got some black and cream ones, in leather for a fiver in their sale and they do plain black or brown and very comfy

I've pretty much lived in mine all winter as I've cobbles to walk over to get to my studio and it's not easy in heels

I love those saddle shoes, for no real reason. I may have to look into finding some.

I love flat t-bars for cute flat shoes. My favourite flats I got in topstop that have loads of pearls and chains and ribbons that tie around your ankle and are ballet pink but also in black, its like wearing lots of bracelets around your ankles.
