sewing or glue?
Can all you girlies give me some advice in regards to nipple pasties, how do you find the best, easiest and quickest way to make them.
1, machine sewing, can't get in the small areas
2, hand sewing, takes for ever
3, glue gun, get messy and burns my hands
4, normal craft glue, haven't tried yet
and attaching the leather do you do it last or fist before you make the shape into a cone?
any help and advice would be great x x xWARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

i always use fabric glue...and use the leather before shaping into a cone. xxx

The pasties I've made have been done by the following method:
- Cut leather to shape and hand stitch into a cone
- Cut outside fabric to shape and hand stitch into a cone
- Stitch outside to leather, either with bias binding around the edge, or having hemmed the edges of the covering fabric first.
- Decorate with glitter/sequins/whatever's to hand!
If using real leather (as opposed to faux leather) make sure to invest in a leather needle and possibly also a thimble. Try not to stab yourself in the fingers with the leather needle, because it is far more painful and bloody than a regular one!
Hope this helps!

hey sweets! i make quite alot of tassels and pasties and i use felt for a base (lol, budgetary reasons!) and stick on the first layer of fabric using a glue called UHU , its really gummy and bonds really quickly! using a glass as a template i draw a circle then cut it out, then mark where the center is (on the bit that wont be showing!) and then cut to make it into a cone, again glueing. i have stiched them in the past but it takes so long and my poor fingers cant cope if um stiching bows and things too!!
Im afraid ive never tried leather but i hope that helps in anyway!

I'm afraid I made my own pattern up! But if you cut a circle of the appropriate size out of paper and make a cut in it from one edge to the centre, you can try it on, and decrease the width of the cone until it fits. You can then cut the wedge out (leaving you with the shape of a pie with a slice cut out) and use that as a pattern. It can be adapted to other shapes as well with a little experimentation. As far as materials go I have a huge pile of faux leather left over from another project (Boyes in York sell it and I'm betting Leeds market do) for backing and scraps of fabric for covering (taffeta from Leeds market and satin from Boyes, so far). There are also a couple of stalls in Leeds market which do lots of different ribbons and trims, and a proper haberdasher a couple of blocks away!
I made these using this method of trial and error:
