Ostrich Feather Care
Our ostrich feather headdresses are starting to look a bit scruffy, does anyone have any ideas for putting some life back into them?
I've read about soaking them and blow drying them; hand cream and blow dry; and steaming them - has anyone tried any of these on feather fans perhaps?
Thanks for any help!WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Hi,
I have found steaming them using a pan of boiling water. xx

Steam when hair dryer. But be careful if they are dyed feathers as this will start to come off if you touch it before you dry the feathers.

This sounds silly, but the care instructions for my ostrich feather duster say to shampoo them, and then dry them with a hairdryer! x

Ah, hadn't thought of that
I don't own any fans, but I like the idea of blow-drying them to maintain their bounce x

There was a thread a while ago (I may have even started it!) about steaming fans. From memory I think steaming with an iron and leaving them in the bathroom with the shower on hot were meathods used by people.

Thanks a lot! Will give the steaming a go and hopefully put a bit of life back into them! :-)
