    Default extensions or wigs....

hallo ladies (and gents...) just a quickie to ask a bit of advice before i lay out hard earned pennies...

i am currently growing out my hair from a short Louise Brooks style bob and would dearly love nature to hurry up as i am terribly impatient...so to keep my chops happy id like to try either extensions or a wig just for nights out, acts etc and was wondering what from experience you all would advise and where would be a good option to start looking.

    thanks muchly folks..ann xxx

I would go for a wig!

I don't have first hand experience of extensions that you simply clip into your hair, but I think that they tend to be more noticeable sometims when people have them in (especially when pinning them into shorter hair). That said, I have seen some hairpieces demonstrated that are pinned onto the crown of the head in a kind of U shape(with the open ends of the U facing towards the front) and then the natural hair combed over the top ... they looked good, but I think they are more effective for giving height at the crown and a look of thickness.

I had a few extensions put in my hair once (blue ones & violet ... just for fun) and they annoyed me fairly quickly because you can feel the gap between where they are attached to your hair and the scalp. They were also a bit of a nuisance when brushing my hair .. and I only had about 10 of them put in for cheekly little flashes of colour.

There are so many amazing wigs and I would guess it would be fairly easy to tuck your hair in.

The nice thing about a wig is that you could go for an amazing colour, if you wanted to, which maybe would otherwise be difficult to sustain normally (i.e., vivid colours will fade massively with washing)

    Does that help?

(I must confess to always having had a bit of a "thing" for wigs, even though I have never had one - I always imagine my hair to be too long to properly tuck into a wig without falling out!)

PS ... just been for a trip down memory lane ... when I was 15 I used to have my hair in a really severe bob like that, and coloured black. I loved it. I often fancy going back to that hairstyle, but seeing as my hair is pretty much bra length that's a bit of a big step ...

    Hi there,

I often buy 3/4 wigs and extensions from this site -

eBay Store ? Style Valley: Search results for.

The 3/4 wigs are great for bobbed hair - you clip them in front and back, then pull your fringe/ front of your hair back over the piece and grip it in (hope that makes sense!)
Prices are reasonable and they usually arrive within 7 - 10 days.

    Best Wishes,

    Erica x

I totally agree.. go for a 3/4 if this is your first time wearing a wig.. they are really easy to put on and sit very securly on your head all day without having to keep taking them off. The best thing I find about them is that your own hair is showing at the front so it looks really natural... I love mine!!....

I dont know if you would be interested but by the beginning of next week I should have at least 4 new styles of 3/4 wigs in my shop - am very excited!!....if you pm me a pic of your hair colour ... I could do a match for you... that is also a really good thing about the 3/4 they dont have to be an exact match with your hair, just a close match.

To hide the join you can either wear an alice band or just simply style your hair over the join.

thanks for the responses guys...i think the way to go would defo be a wig for me then, and on thinking about it it would be good not to only have a change of style but a change of colour too...i had my hair bleached not so long ago to white blonde and my hair is still , topthat with after pregnancy hair loss nad you get the reason why i had to opt for a very short bob...oh well lesson learned there i guess

againmany thanks guys for your input and claire i shall pm you asap hunny thanks. xxx
