Default Making your own Sally Rand fans?

I'm just starting out in Burlesque and LOVE the Sally Rand routine of the feather fans as I'm a bit obsessed with feathers! But I don't have like £900 odd quid to spend on them but I'm pretty nifty with a hit glue gun. Do you reckon If I got some 2nd hand big chinese fans, took the paper off, painted the handles and then glued a load of gorgous ostritch feathers it would work?

    Thankiooooooo

Plenty of people make their own fans and you can buy the staves for them off of ebay. There's tutorials and step-by-step guides for pretty much anything on the internet so google it and I'm sure you'll find something useful.

That what i've just done but not using feathers. You will need to ensure that the stave are comfortable in the hand and this normally means drilling a new hole closer to the end

    For future reference...

I now offer workshops in "how to make ostrich feather fans", letting people in on the tips and tricks I've learned through making tens of pairs of feather fans over the years.

Prices quoted here: Looking for promoters to host my workshops are on the basis that the workshop is booked alongside a performance from me. I'm also available to provide workshops only, but would need to adjust the costs to factor in my travel costs etc.
