Default New Corsets YAY! & Tightlacing Opinions?

Because of my health issues I was put on a tablet that made me go from a 25" waist 8-10 to a size 18 in 3 months! I transferred to another doctor who immediately stopped the drug and I started to lose weight, I went down to 39 (36D) - 28 - 39, but despite the fact that I eat very little because of my tablets and illness I seem to be stuck at this size.....I have confused the hell out of my Nutritionist as I only intake about 300-400 calories per day!

*The photos of me as Lola on my albums are taken while I was still losing weight so new pics are going to be taken as I was larger then than I am now!

Anyway it means that all my wonderful clothes and corsetry dont fit me anymore and I am slowly trying to build up a new wardrobe, my Hubby just brought me three lovely steel boned and tightlacing corsets The only thing is we had a bit of a row over them, I wanted to buy 24" waisted corsets though I do have concerns about them fitting round my bust as I like to use the modesty panel. but he refuses to let me tightlace to 24" and will only let me go down to 26"! He says that I already have an hourglass figure with a waist 11" smaller than bust and hips and taking it down to 24" would just look ridiculous and unnecessary.

What do you think, I know there are alot of lovely, friendly people on here with tons more experience in this area than me and I would love to hear your opinions or experiences....

Thank you in advance for reading my babbling, I am shy in person face to face but my fingers run away with me on chatting and forums online.

Lots of love
Lola

A four inch gap is about an average reduction from a corset without a great deal of cinch. Muscular bodies, and some body types are harder to cinch so will get less, and the shape of the corset makes a difference. But going down 4 inches is certainly not excessive.

Thanks Crikey Aphrodite, from what little I know of everyone on here you are one of the best people to get advice from on corsetry, I dont have a particularly muscular frame....I used to when I was a gymnast but not now, if anything my waist is really squishy!

I also want a corset that pulls and flattens my tummy as where I had my 10lb 11 baby boy and he was too big for my frame at the time (I was a very androgenous figure with a 22" natural waistline and weighed 7 1/2 stone) I have loose tummy skin that the Doc says can only be got rid of through surgery

So I want to pull in as much as possible, I actually hate my current figure and think I am fat But my Husband is being really stubborn on the issue and wont budge *sulk* Its only an extra two inches! Because I am an obsessive compulsive I think he is scared that I will get caught up in it and end up going to the extremes of tightlacing but I actually dont like the really tiny like 17" waists, thats just a personal prefrence no insults to anyone intended.

Hey Lola ,

welcome to the forums,
nice to see you get stuck in !!

i think your husband sounds great . . he is only looking out for you.
if you aren't going to be tight lacing then as long as you're wearing the corset and it fits nicely i wouldn't worry about pulling in those extra 2 inches . . . you are by no means anywhere near large !! i wear the same size x x

on stage i wear my corset loose so that i can get out of it quickly
i still think it looks great - so don't get hung up on inches and just
enjoy them.

Thanks Red Sarah,

I know he is looking out for me, he is wonderful and an absolute darling who has stood by me in the darkest of times. I am overjoyed to be getting the new corsets and I cant complain being as he is the one that paid for them!

I know alot of his worries are about my health and he doesnt want me over doing it, but then if he had his way he would wrap me up in bubble wrap

One of the corsets is an underbust, I have always wanted one but never seemed to get around to buying one. I have to go to a meeting on Tuesday about some of my designed and hand stitched artwork being displayed for a special event in January at Peterborough Cathedral. I will be wearing a cream blouse with large frilly ruffles at cuffs and collar/neckline, my new underbust corset and a long black skirt......so classic but wenchy I love it!

As someone who has gained a lot of weight presumably from medications I am on, I can empathise, but wow, that's a LOT to put on in 3 months when you are eating so little! Glad you are better now!

I don't think going down to 24 inches is excessive, as said before, it is usually advised when getting fitted for a corset to go for a size that's 4 inches less than your natural waistline because that's the level of waist reduction many people prefer. 24 inches isn't a tiny tiny waist.

I think your man is looking out for you, it's maybe an "I love you the way you are, you don't need to be smaller" thing. My boyfriend does this too, even to the point of saying that skinnier girls we see out and about look too thin (even if they are a size 10!) which I think he only does to make me feel good as there is really nothing wrong with how they look and I would be happy at their size myself. I guess he means well.

I'm thinking of tightlacing myself, for waist reduction and shape as well as to improve my posture and back condition if possible. I take a 26 just now, not sure what to aim for as a goal waist size yet.
