Although not a performer, I might like to be involved in helping out in some way at Teaze, as I am keen to make contact with the burlesque scene in Edinburgh. Can anybody suggest contacts? I am a Victorian buff first and foremost, with a passion for history and photography, but would love to learn more about the contemporary scene in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Yesterday I was through at the Britannia Panopticon AGM.

It's going to be mental! I am trying to prepare myself for the madness! Teaze has a cracking line-up and should offer some real variety of performances!
It is actually myself and Cat Aclysmic who are organising the Barfly event on the saturday - Rockaburley - so you should definitely try and come along if you can; it'll be later than the Panopticon show I would imagine, as they usually close at about 9 o'clock, and Barfly's not too far from there so you should come along! Tickets are available in advance from the Barfly website.
I'm sure Teniah will read this thread again, so I expect she will get back to you as regards helping at Teaze.
As for contacts, you've made a good start here on MoB; there are quite a few Scottish performers and fans on here and we always post when there are events coming up, If you want some other Scottish burly events / contacts / random stuff to check out, here are a couple of links:
Rhymes with Purple Productions - Theatre, Comedy, Cabaret - "Magical realist cabaret theatre that's both sentimental and serious in its obvious love affair with - These guys are fabulous; theatre, entertainment, burlesque, fire, cabaret and much more, all rolled into one, they run run the Glasgow Dr Sketchy events and also put on shows too.
Gypsy Charms & Viva Misadventure present The Academy of Burlesque & Cabaret - Gypsy and Viva teach the burlesque classes here at MoB and also in Edinburgh, through Dance Base. However, they are also outstanding performers in their own right and regularly perform around Scotland. I will actually be joining them for a new event in Edinburgh called 'Kitsch and Caboodle' (I think) at The Ratpack, Friday 2nd May, so if you are free, you should check it out.
There is of course, lots more stuff out there, but this should get you started!
If you are on myspace, do come and add me,
MySpace.com - ~Daiquiri Dusk~ - 23 - Female - Glasgow - www.myspace.com/miss_trixie_
as I have a reasonable number of contacts on there. Hope to see you at an event soon!
