Hull isn't as bad as people make out. It's dirt cheap to live here, we're 1 1/2hours from Leeds, we've got an ace nightlife and we don't get much hassle.
Oh and my beloved pub's here.
I love Hull.

3. The Ruby Revue also used to be monthly, but I'm not sure of their plans this month.
My music taste is kinda the same as yours, I go to the Cockpit on a Friday night for the session (dirt cheap and unpretentious, 3 different rooms so ther's something for everyone) or Wire for Strangeways (slightly more obscure indie, often has guest Djs like the Cribs or Long Blondes) and on Sat I go to Wendy House at Leeds Uni (a monthly goth club, great for dressing up), Brighton Beach at Leeds Uni (60s/mod/northern soul and indie, monthly), the Faversham (on every week, some people think it's a bit scenester-y, but I like it).
PM me if you need more info.

YEEEEEEEEEAY! Cockpit! Cockpit! I go to Rock of Ages at Leeds Uni and Star at Leeds Met is diiiiiiirt cheap! Subculture run some pretty good nights too. Slippery Belle is 9th this month and I hopefully make it along on 2nd Millie! I think the Ruby Revue has finished now, as far as I know there won't be another xxxx

I have a lot of friends who seem to frequent Ringside, and have been told that the Burlesque night is good, I shall have to look in on the next one! Is there a rule on state of dress in your pub? (I know I got thrown out of a pub once for my rather conspicuous state of dress). Does it get packed out? I've only been to Ringside once and unfortunately for me, I can't remember that night. (Young as my brain is, my memory still seems to fail me!) I seem to remember arriving on a Friday night and there being tonnes and tonnes of teenage children in gothic/skater/emo (or whatever they call it) attire swarming around at about a half past nine?
I'll see you at Burlesque night ladies!

The kids thing was either when we've had a gig on upstairs or before I took over! (even though I've worked here 4 years we only took over 2 years ago).
Pretty much fills up in here, I've normally got gigs on at least twice a week, a rock night on a Friday, general cheesy disco on a Saturday and various bits inbetween!
I've got NOOOOOO dress code (you should see some of the stuff I end up wearing!) the stranger the better! I love my little pub
Tickets are on sale here for the next burlesque night on Februsry 16th for £5 or £7 on the night.
See you here!

I think since it was earlier it could have been an under 18's on at the Welly maybe since the whole area was crawling with pubescent looking individuals all floating around for some reason or other. Perhaps it was kicking out time or something across the street If I can get myself up Beverley Road way I might have to pop my head in before Burlesque night (I don't think you can miss me, I always dress with vintage in mind and a shade of red lipstick!), even if it's just to come and buy a ticket! (Haha travelling to get the ticket before the night will cost me more than paying on the door but oh well!) Rock night sounds good, and I love a good gig, but usually the atmosphere gets too stuffy and sweaty for me to consider myself a lady!
Haha, I'm no one-woman mardi gras when it comes to clothes. I was just concerned since I may either appear in a lavish-looking evening gown, or maybe no gown at all! I look forward to Feb 16th! (I'll see if I can coax any friends out of the woodwork to accompany me!)
