Default Performer Websites

I am two days away from launching my performer website, and thought I'd get peoples opinions.

Who of you have websites?
Do you use them as your main point of contact when approaching clients?
Do you find promoters take you more seriously if you have a website?
Do you have a blog on your website, and do you update it often?

Post a link to your site as I love seeing what people do with their pages. I really like Beatrix's website home its sleek and easy to navigate.

Strange you say, I'm due to launch ameliesoleil.com in the next few weeks.

We already have Frayed Knot and for our circus work it certainly brings in work. Since the redesign in January, we are now getting triple the enquires per week.

Occasionally a new client will turn up their nose at a myspace address but thats their problem ha! Didn't exactly do Lily Allen any harm

I do love Bea's site, also Gwendoline Lamour | home 's website is pretty snazzy too.

Best of luck for the launch

xx

I've had mine - midnightblue for a fair few years now, but have never got round to buying a midnightblue url. I think people do take you more seriously but its not the be all and end all, some people much prefer to go by word of mouth. I've found a very useful aspect is having your own email addresses, much less hassle than relying on your service providers or a yahoo, etc

I don't have a blog, as with the best of intentions I just don't update the site as often as I should (in fact I've just been updating text, and about to add to galleries, as mine is very out of date at the moment)

It is definitely worth having your own domain and website if you are taking your career as a performer seriously - it's an investment in that career.

That said, there are a lot of off-putting things about building a website, such as costs, technical setup, maintenence, building skills etc. As a result, we are building about six performer/model sites at the moment - feel free to ask if you really want your own site but are finding it difficult xx

Websites shouldn't be that difficult to make - and to be honest it's pretty quick to learn the coding you need to put one together. I needed one put up quickly and knocked it together in about a day including all the graphics and testing ( White Cat Consulting ). It uses a very simple template system but if you want something like it should be a few hours work for any reasonable web developer.

Thats the thing though - I know performers/models who want a unique and sophisticated site, but they dont know about hosting and domains, they don't know about coding and design, and even then they don't always have the software or a lot of time to dedicate to it .

This is why we are launching a consultancy in the new year to get people up and running with their own sites and doing all the dirty work for them - so if anyone is interested feel free to speak to us in advance.
