Default Guess what I did last night :-)

I am so chuffed I have to share this with you all......last night at my Pointe work class I did a pirouette en Pointe. My teacher was so proud of me :-) I can't believe how far I have come in the last few months!

I have my 2 Pointe work teachers to thanks, Michael and Henrietta Branwell at Morley College. They also run the Harlow Ballet school. If any one wants to learn ballet as an adult then these are the best teachers you will ever find!

Wow - congratulations!

It's always fantastic when you manage something like this for the first time!

There is a lady in the class who went en pointe first time at the age of 63! If you have a good teacher then anything is possible!

congratulations that is so cool!

so would you say that you can learn ballet at any age then? i always assumed that it was something you couldn't pick up past your childhood, with kids being more flexible and that. i can barely touch my toes lol!

I did ballet when I was younger but gave it up. I then went back to ballet when I was 21. By 22 I was invited into a more advanced class and then on to pointe. That aside I have alot of friends who have started ballet as an adult. There are lots of classes for beginner adults. With hard work and determintation anything is possible! I willl never be on the stage at the Royal Opera House ;-) but I love ballet and always feel on a high when I finish a class!

Like anything in life.... if you want something bad enough and are prepared to work any thing is possible!

Bizzarely enough I've been looking into ballet classes recently. I've had some postural back problems and it was one of the things that was recommended for spinal rehab along with yoga and/or pillates The problem I found was finding a class that wasn't just for 3 year old girls and would cater for a 38 year old hairy bloke!

I started adult ballet classes about 6-years ago, but unfortunately the teacher retired shortly afterwards. I did a lot of dancing as a child/teenager and I can't begin to tell you how hard I found adult ballet - frustrating more than anything - annoyance at myself for not keeping it up - but still enjoyable. Reading what Miss Diamond has written has planted seeds in my head - I want to be a 63-year old en Pointe (and yes, I have got a lot of a few years to practice!)

Miss Diamond, well done you, your hard work has paid off!!!!!
