Hello!
Sorry to bother you guys - I've been in touch with a photographer and am interested in arranging a shoot with him. He's experienced in sort of lingerie shoots, and clothed glamour but is keen to explore burlesque and has asked me to describe it to him!!!
But I'm new to this whole thing so I'm not really sure what to say....
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated please!!!

Get him to Wikipedia it!! Google it! Loads of stuff can be found on the net dead quickly. Or send him to look at some performers that you admire.

Tell him to think Moulin Rouge... or get him to have a look on MoB and all the links and definitions that are here!
