It went wrong for so many reasons... for a start I'd only just had a knee operation so though I could walk I could really dance properly and though I knew what dance steps I wanted to do, I hadn't really been able to practice them let only perfect them!
Then I'd not given myself enough time to make my costume and though I'd done 80% of the work and had a costume that did the job, it actually looked pretty shabby and nowhere near as good quality as I would've liked. And again, as I'd not had time/been able to practice I wasn't used to taking off all my various clothes (especially my trousers, which didn't undo properly on the night)
So my fault really as I was a bit too ambitious, I should've just gone for an easier act that I'd already done. But hey, you live you learn. Hopefully next time it'll go better!

Don't believe this woman!!!! I was in this show too and my mates who saw the whole thing didn't mention any problems at all and instead said that they were bowled over by her enthusiasm and the fact that her act was so unusual (in a good way!) From where I was standing all I could see was a huge grin and could hear that the crowd really warmed to her. Usually no-one else knows how your act is supposed to go so you're probably always going to be your own worst critic. Thats what I always tell myself when I'm feeling really crap about a show anyway.

Saturday just gone. Promoter was lovely, first band were great, crowd were fab until they all took drugs and became ... weird.
changing room was a drugs den for a very popular local band who have an array of pilled up fans who were chewing away at the sides of their mouths. band refused to get out of changing room while girls were changing and said 'we've seen that sh*t before'. yes but you havent seen my lady bits lovely. grr.
DJ was an utter idiot. Paused both of my songs half way through my performances, so had to improvise and got the crowd clapping along for me so at least I had a beat. (Maybe he didn't like me lol) After messing up one song halfway through he replayed it from the start so I finished the routine and had a good 3 mins left of the song so had to just walk off; it appeared to the audience that I had messed up and skipped my routine.
Staging area was not cleaned up properly between acts and I stabbed my foot twice on pins from a previous balloon act.
Venue lost my props.
Due to all the stress and horrid remarks made by band I rushed and had a good 30 seconds to spare at the end of one of the routines. great stuff. and it was filmed by the venue - my mister installed a system so that people can watch gigs online. great.
I shall learn not to be distracting in future and get on with it. Must be more professional in these situations.
Or performing in one of Cardiff's new funky cocktail bars where the crowd cheered great one liners such as "get your rat out" , "get your 'C U Next Tuesday" and "Stop F-ing about and get your blue tits out" oh and the DJ turned down the music so low I couldnt not hear it because restaurants situation opposite this venue had been complaining of noise pollution.

LOL thank you.
I think its just a sign of how inbred a large percentage of South Wales is that this kind of thing is allowed to happen.
Oh I carried on but it didnt look pretty!

Hon, I didn't see all of your act but the bit I did see looked pretty good to me. Sometimes things feel worse on stage than thay look from the audience. I thought you did a great job!

Omg! A similar thing happened to me when I did the Martini Lounge a few months ago. The stage was soooo slidey, it had also been polished to within an inch of it's life and not only that, I was dancing en pointe with 2 huge feather fans. Pointe shoes are made of satin so can be a bit slidy anyway on certain surfaces, add that to a super polished stage equals me doing spins and litterally spinning right off the stage!
Luckily the stage was only about a foot high so I didn't injure anything except my pride. I popped back up on the stage and finished my performance but I was really pissed off about the whole thing. The girls were all really lovely and said that it looked great and no one noticed but in reality, I slid right off the stage, how could anyone not have noticed?
Some sand was found for the stage for act 2. The lesson I learned? Always bring your own resin no matter what, now I literally coat my shoes in the stuff before any performance.

Thanks Betty! I think what really irritates me is that I know I could've done a better job and really should've just done the easier option!

Cheers Ms De Ville! You're too kind (I still think it went badly though! haha) But hey, it's done and dusted now

My worst ever performance was in Aberdeen in July. I was taking a gamble on a non-striptease pastiche of Nigella Lawson, in which I make chocolate mousse on stage. I'd run it the week before at a private party, where I had a radio mic and a fridge to keep the cream cool, and it had gone down a storm. That night, in Aberdeen, I had the cream in just a cool bag in a scalding hot room for four hours before I went on stage and it just plain refused to whip. No matter what I did it came out like lumpy butter and I didn't have a radio mic so I had to keep dipping back to the mic stand. No one seemed to get the jokes and I ended up desperately wandering around the audience before trying to make my final joke on the stage and getting my heel caught in my voluminous petticoats.
I burst into tears the moment I got behind the curtains and nothing anyone said (mostly complimentary) could stop me crying. It ended up with me and Malady de Winter sitting eating the curdled chocolate mousse with strawberries and having a good old-fashioned comfort food fest.
I haven't done that routine since, and I'm not entirely sure that I ever will.
