well I shall certainly think much harder about it after readingthis - I was on an emotional rollercoaster! I was almost outraged by the almost leading to 'skinny girls are rubbish at burlesque' (not saying any of you think that!), but then you lovely ladies cleared it all up being your wonderful diplomatic selves and had calmed me down by page four without me even being a part of this conversation so far! lol :-) I just wanted to add that there being so much focus on larger ladies and how wonderful they can be at the moment that there is definately a worry that you could be too skinny for burlesque! However I have already talked myself out of that nonsense idea whilst reading this thread! I do love the mixed opinions we give, thankyou all for being so fabulous! Hope that made sense xxxx

I am a performer i'm not skinny or slim but I'm not really large either I guess that means I'm somewhered in the middle

I think we all should remember the rule of having fun and putting on a good show. It does not matter how big/small/average sized you are because once your up on the stage performing with gusto and having the time of your life no one and I mean no one notices any of your flaws.

Also if you think you are too small, average or large a quick image search on google or video search on youtube will soon change your mind! For me one of the best things about Burlesque is the empowerment of woman and the preaching of all shapes and sizes welcome.

<----- these are for you all.

My friend Chrys Columbine is slender and an amazing performer, all shapes and sizes should be celebrated.

Thats why I got into burlesque in the first place

Wow what a journey of a thread!

All very interesting in the perspective of a newbie i must say, although you could feel the tremble of offense in there, it was honest discussion, and in a way it comforted me.
I have no self esteem regarding my body at all, i just know that in the right frame of mind i can use it to feel sexy - sometimes. The rest of the time i'm very self conscious. It wasn't until now that i realised i was in the 'average' bracket as apposed to large in terms of burlesque!

Its all very well seeing others at it in all shapes and sizes, but sometimes discussion of the topic applied to YOU is what grounds you.

Maybe i'm babbling, i don't actually know the first thing about burlesque. ¬.¬
But still, ladies, you're brilliant, and this is something i needed covering in my mentals too!
