I'm so sorry that you have been manipulated in this way, although I have to say you all looked so beautiful as did your houses, however, I know exactely where you are coming from.
I, sadly, entered the X Factor last year with my group, we got as far as boot camp but came out of it there - I have to say it completely changed my view of TV - they are all a bunch of "beep-stards"!!!! Twisting everything you say, cutting and editing to produce "the monstrosity" you actually get to see on TV - none of it is real!!!!! I know I've mentioned it on here before, but I actually saw them make three little 16 year old girls cry just so that they could film them for what they class as "good TV" - sorry, but this to me is pure child abuse!!! Seeing the adverts for the new show, which I thinks starts this weekend, makes my skin crawl!!!!

I actually missed the program... but even if you were exactly as they'd portrayed you, " just" a housewife... I can't understand the negative comments about it; you're happy, your husband is happy - so what's it got to do with them? It's not as though you've been forced to live in the way that you do.
It is awful, being misconstrued and misrepresented, though. xx x

I saw the show and I thought you all looked beautiful, so elegant and were obviously all very happy with your lives, which I'm sure is much more than can be said for those who made all the negative comments!
Out of interest, and apologies for continuing on a painful topic, did you have a similar experience with the Daily Mail article?

I think something like this happened to Beatrix Von Bourbon too you know.
I saw her in a programme on channel 4 and the first thing I thought was someone had editted the shit out of it (pardon my language).
I think it could happen to any one of us here!
I didn't see the piece, but it speaks volumes that everyone on MoB thought so highly of your style!

I have had some awful personal comments made about me on websites. Its so hard when you have been portrayed incorrectly by the media, as everyone believes what they are told. I just wanted to say that you ladies are all sweeties and have put a smile back on my face. I thank you very much. xxxx

Oh you poor thing. Forget all those negative comments (very hard I know) but life is too short to care what nasty small minded people think. If you love what you are doing and have the love and support of your husband, that's all that matters. They're probably jealous that you have made the brave decision to escape the rat race and are living the life you love! I wish you all the best in your singing career and you are always sure of a warm welcome from us lot (forget the 'normals' being slightly freaky is much more fun!)

Channel4 & the article in the Daily Mail have twisted my words to say the least.
I am a singer on the 40's scene & I embarked on the programme which was to be about living a vintage lifestyle, because they said they would promote my singing career. I filmed for five 12 hour days. Lots of great footage at a 40's event with me singng, dancing....loads of very well dressed people. They chose to ignore it all. As time went on, the director said that she would be concentrating on the women as we were coming over as "stronger characters" Di & Deb are friends of mine and we made lots of interesting and valid points about our way of life. When it went to the edit, i had a call to say that they had changed the name to "Time Warp Wives" and that was obviously when they edited it to say what THEY wanted and not what WE wanted. I have cried for three days since I saw it!!

Ahhh hon . I think a lot of people understand that the media are incredibly manipulative and twist everything to get the effect they are after. After watching the program is seemed obvious that they had filmed a lot more then they used.
I enjoyed watching it and wish they had gone more in depth to various things.
People will always find it easier to criticise then praise. (Especially on the internet)
And just in case you didn't see the Guardian review:
( Watch this: Olympics 2008: Opening Ceremony | First Cut: Time Warp Wives | The Tudors | Comedy Connections | Culture | The Guardian)
'First Cut: Time Warp Wives
7.30pm, Channel 4
As xylophones tinkle and Samantha Bond's narration twinkles, a lovely tale of eccentricity unfolds. Diane, Sammy and Joanne have devoted their lives to the pursuit of vintage perfection. Sculpting their surroundings to mirror their favourite decade (the 1930s, 40s and 50s, respectively), all cleave to the notion that modernity is guff, the past is where it's at, values-wise, and that nirvana may be achieved by cocooning oneself in a bubble of cashmere, scones and evasion. Sally Hewitt's film cheers rather than sneers, engages rather than patronises. Bravo, all involved.'
