Default kinds of burlesque? help needed!

Please help me out

I am new to all this - I have been given the task of booking a couple of performers for a new night in the midlands, I have attended a couple of burlesque nights and have realised that burlesque seems to take various forms.

From comedy /slapstick routine to a more classical style of feathers and glitz. is there a name for each type? Apologies if i seem somewhat naive my intention is not to offend I am just new to it all.

Because of the corporate nature of the night i have been asked to book more of the classical side - does this make sense?

Any help is appreciated

Awww thanks so much Deb!

Roz, I sent you a PM by the way ...

I don't think there is a name for each style, just a description, and you've pretty much got it right. If you describe the style you're looking for to performers, they should understand what you mean. The way you have described the style you are looking for seems to be straightforward enough, so don't worry, you are making yourself understood ^_^

Thanks Everyone, I am still looking at all my PM's - If anyone has videos of themselves that would be fab. I have been asked that the performers i book have the real wow factor even recognised name and possibly dont even perform in the midlands that often.

Thanks to those that mentioned magians. however this is something we really arent looking for. We already have the rest of the line up sorted and cant wait until we can reveal the night to everyone.
