I've had enough
Why is that people have to rip off other performers acts???
I mean i can understand using other acts for inspiration & theres bound to be some similar ideas out there, but why the hell do people have to completely copy them and pass them off as original.
Now i know this is no coincidence as the person involved has seen my particular act performed at least 3 times at different venues & then all of a sudden they post pics up that look exactly the same as the act i did! Now im not naming names as i'm not that low, but im sure some of you out there know exactly who i am talking about!
GAH!!!! i dont know what to do

Can't you just message them and politely point out that their act seems very similar to yours?
You can show them photos/ video footage to prove that you were performing it first.

Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, it must be cause you have such great ideas! I'm guessing if someone's directly ripped you off they must be a newbie, rest assured your experience and stage pressence will show your's is the original (well as original as we can ever get in burly hehe)

It's fair enough if people have similar ideas, or use the same music, or whatever if they didn't know there was another act out there - I mean, I do a waitress routine and I'm sure there's plenty out there, and I've seen a few cat routines, but if they've seen your routine and have blatantly copied it, that's just rude!!
fingers crossed for you hon *

If it's the same person I'm thinking of, she applied for the Bizarre Ball with a showreel of acts that were blatently ripped off from other people. It's a shame because she actually made the Bizarre Ball shortlist until we pointed out that EVERY SINGLE ONE of her acts had been ripped off from someone else.
Anyway, please do not mention any names on here. The person in question is well known to the burlesque community and most people know to stay well clear of rip-off artists like this,

If your act has been seen at least three times by this person alone, then it will also have been seen at least three times by a large chunk of the burlesque-going community. Therefore, there'll be a heck of a lot of people who will know yours is the original and this person ripped you off. Plus burlesque is a tight knit community, so word might get out that this person has ripped you off - which is much more damaging for their reputation than it is for yours, so keep your chin up!
