Music Help?
I'm in the process of creating my first burlesque act, and I'd really like to do a Geisha themed routine, and all was going well until it came to finding music! I've tried everything I can think of, and nothing seems to be working. So, any idea's from all you lovely people?
Please and Thank you

Diva Hollywood has just done a Geisha act - I think with madam butterfly to start with and fujiyama mama after this....but there's a thread somewhere on here if you search where people suggested a whole variety of songs/music for it....

How about Aneka - Japanese Boy? Rather upbeat but hey - why be normal?

Thank you both for your replies, they were really helpful. I had a look at that thread, and I think I know what I'm doing now, I'm gonna go with "Battle without honour..." from Kill Bill, and edit it in with some other stuff I found. Thanks again!

Warren Speed and Dixie I think use that one honey in a Geisha act I know yours will be different as you are a solo but just thought I would let you know. Also I would have a look around youtube and see what other performers were doing as there are a few Geisha acts out there. It took me a while to work mine out so it would be using different music and have an alternative theme. Also what I have found is that its a hard one to do unless you are only doing one act or you are right at the start of one act and right at the end of the second as you have to do a completely different make up.
I hope these points have helped rather than hindered. I love my act now but as I said it took a while to get all the tweaks sorted in it.
Best

Sorry to burst this one, but I've seen Kitty Bang Bang perform a geisha-esque act to that track. x

Its quite a popular theme hun, when your round at my house next I think we'll have a listen to Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 soundtracks. But I think a nice idea would be to search for geisha or better still japanese films.....and use the soundtracks from these and search for a piece of music more rare!!! If its a piece not recognised it wont distract from your act and it will intrigue people.

I used to do a geisha act, I used a track by siouxsie and the banshees, some of their tracks have a sort of oriental feeling to them.
