I don't think anyone intended to come across with a patronising tone. Knowing both Amelie and Lucille personally, I can say that these are two grounded, honest and sensible women
There's nothing wrong with asking for tips and hints - and likewise, there's nothing wrong with posting a reply/response. I've asked some very basic questions in my time... gosh, I'm tempted to search the forums for an example!
As I understand, Amelie and Lucille were merely offering the voices of experience and highlighting some of the not-so-wonderful issues that have arisen from the otherwise wonderful world of the internet. One can easily flip the old saying 'every cloud has a silver lining' on its head. For example, what if December were to perform a wonderful, new diner girl act, only for someone to find this thread and start a vicious rumour about the extent to which they perceived her being involved in the act's creation...
...while this happening is quite unlikely, it's still a possibility (hence the suggestion of conducting 'idea storming' sessions via PM). Being regular forum users (or lurkers, dear readers),
WE all know that December is as creative as the next burlesque artiste, and
WE all know that Tempest has put forward her fabulous ideas with full consent for December (or, perhaps, any forum reader) to use them to his/her own ends... but unfortunately this is not immediate knowledge to the average passer-by.
The catty reputation of the entertainment industry (IN GENERAL) hasn't arisen out of no-where - it's sprung from the affects of too many people competing for too few jobs. This said, burlesque is sedate in comparison with some of the other entertainment sectors - sheesh!
I think the point is simply that one ought to tread carefully when caught up in the excitement of a new idea. My Mum fell victim to excitement once. She had an idea for making 'flexitime calculators'. She had hundreds of the blighters made up before she had enough orders to cover the cost! In the end, I think someone else copied her idea and marketed it much more successfully. She made enough to cover her costs, but unfortunately her plans for self-employment never came to fruition
Now, back to the happy stuff. Can I use my snakeboard at this virtual roller disco?! I promise I'll bring leg warmers and a neon, high-leg, thong-leotard!
