Not having known either of my grandmothers, one because of cancer and one as apparently she was the embodiment of pure evil (so THAT'S where i get it from ) I have no grandmatriarchal advice to share. The only working advice I have is from my experiance in moving, and more importantly in staying places and that is be loyal to the people who earn your trust, respect the people that gain your respect, and love the people you can't help but love, and know that the three don't always occur in the same person.
Performance wise it's never travel without a safety pin, tit tape, and eyelash glue. And remember that you do this because you love it, and for no other reason than that.

Yeah so no stretching after meals! I remember my mother and grandmother having a huge argument about whether this was scientifically true or not. I really don't think I want to know the answer, but just in case I don't yawn, stretch, touch my toes or hula hoop after meals...just to be on the safe side
I think probably the best bit of advice I've ever been given is: don't worry about what others might think of you, they're all too busy worrying about what others are thinking about them to even notice you

How long after meals are we talking here??
To be serious for a second, I don't think it's true, because logically stretching out your colon would make transit easier than bunching it all up ... but let's not do a scientific study into it, just in case, eh?

hahaha I can't believe that you're taking it seriously enough to think about it seriously...my Gran would've been so chuffed that people were taking her seriously enough to at least consider if it has any merits
and all this time, talking over the true words of wisdom from December Charm's gran, Red Sarah and Cat Aclysmic (which I love and may well be writing on a bit of paper and pasting on my wall....that or collect them all together and put them in a book and make millions, yeah tho)

Can I add another one that i just learned today? How about, do not ever go into the House of Frasiers shoe department on a sale day if you're just windowshopping ... it's official, i now have more shoes than sense. I am poorer, much wiser, and very beautifully shod. xx

ok then...in the interests of helping you out, why should we necessarily use the Latin plural of forum just because we have loaned the word from this language? If that is the argument for the use of fora, ie. that the original comes from the Latin, so therefore we should also use the plural from the Latin....and why doesn't that apply to using the plural forms from other languages where we have loaned words for example, the Hindi for words like jodhpur, pundit or the Kalaallisuit for anorak....we readily accept jodhpurs, pundits and anoraks so why not forums?
And anyway, why do we use the nominative version of forum, rather than the genitive or ablative?
Failing you wanting to get your head round that one - which is better Daddy or chips?

My Nana used to say "You drink to drown your sorrows but your sorrows learn to swim."
I think that is pretty true.
