Own Websites?
Ok so alot of people have myspace but how many people have a .com or a .co.uk etc? And do they get much work from them? I am currently having my constructed by a lovely friend and was curious. I know that it is beneficial but how much so?
More professional to have a .com/.co.uk etc?

I'm not a performer but I've got illustration work through my website ^-^ i heart joan and I'd say it's definitely worth having something, no matter how simple. It's nice to be able to give out a business cards and to be able to give people something to look at in their own time, a good domain name sticks in people's minds.

My ex-boyfriend bought me a website about 6 years ago, and he made a collage of pics to put on it, but that's as far as it got. I don't know what he thought I was going to do with it as I had no reason to have one but it was a nice gesture.
When we split up I kept it going for a while but the url was my old screen name, and I've kind of left that part of me in the past...

I have my own .co.uk, have never bought one as Miss Midnight Blue though. I think it definitely gives a more professional image, and is simply very useful to have a permanent set of email addresses that won't change if you leave a job/change internet provider, and somewhere to host all your photos, etc
I've had a few jobs over the years come directly from people coming across my site, and in other cases it has got me jobs by directing people to it when they call/mail/meet me at a gig
Mine still needs updating though so far as things like up to date song demos and act information goes. I feel a bit stuck in a rut lately with getting new work myself. I get something really good like the rubber ball, then emails to other event promoters go unanswered...
May have to spend more time on the old bread and butter pub gigs soon

I don't have one for burlesque, but do for bellydancing at Henna Nights. I find myspace pages a little annoying, because I don't have a myspace account so I can't contact them, check out any of their pics or videos. But they are much easier (and cheaper!) to set up so I understand it.

Cheers honey. Though i have no idea how that 'letter' got in there. I orginally emailed a similar message to a mate who works for them. She was after a new corset. Then before I knew it some hunky builder was apporaching me in the garage thrusting a copy of the mag under my nose.

You do yourself an injustice, your website has such a classy look, I couldn't believe that it was not professional composed.
And, although you are feeling like sh@t after your recent NHS skirmish, why don't you promote yourself in the events forum, re-the Rubber Ball. Promoters read these pages too. Sorry darling, did that sound like a bollocking? Just don't undersell yourself is what I am trying to say, in a very clumsy way.
