LOL! It's best that I don't explain the maths involved as it's what's known as a 'conversation killer', but in a nutshell, here's how the new points will be worked out:

1. Activity level. The system will assign a percentage based on your activity level for the past 21 days. ie someone who has visited every day will receive 100% and someone who has not visited at all will receive 0%.

2. This percentage rate is then used to calculate scores for things like posting in the forums, uploading images etc, new friends etc...

VERY BASIC EXPLANATION: That this means is that people who visit the site every day and contributing regularly will score more points. For example, 20 (forum posts) multiplied by 100 (percent activity) will equal 2000 points, whereas 20 (forum posts) multiplied by 50 (percent activity) will equal 1000 points. The two members have posted the same number of times, but the more regular member gets more points.

Because the system operates in real-time, the stats change - someone who starts visiting the site more will earn more points per post whilst someone who becomes a less frequent visitor will start to earn less points.

In practise, there are MANY more variables than the ones I've just explained, but it makes it very easy to calculate things like 'Most Active User', 'Top Picture Uploader' etc...

Sorry if it sounds complicated, but that's because it is!
