I have a few, I don't take off a corset if I wear one it stays on. I use voice overs, I invented finger fans where and I were a full face mask in that act that stays on, I have a fan dance which has lights in the fans, headdress and bustle. I am the only burlesquer I no who strips off her hairy legs and goes from cave woman to showgirl. So I guess I have lots of gimmicks.

hmmm ... well I guess my gimmick is trying to always incorporate some form of audience interaction with my acts, whether it be passing out my chocolate goodies or punting balls into the crowd! Bring on the gimmick!!!!

...I do a whole act walking in my 7" ballet heels, so I guess thats a bit gimmicky.... does my Haemorrhoid act count as a gimmic?

This is all really interesting! I've been trying to think of gimmics but as yet have no idea. Although I'll only be singing, not stripping (well, not until I get a bit braver!). I guess I'd need to think of a gimmic for each song?

Vendetta raises a valid point - what's the line between what's considered a gimmick and what isn't?

I would have thought that you could class the ballet heels as a gimmick. Fan-dancing and balloon pops were once a gimmick but now they are a standard.

I think anything that makes you memorable or stand-out could be a form of a gimmick; but as the song suggests "you'll never have to sweat to get paid, when you got a gimmick, gypsy-girl you got it made!" - the gimmick is the essence of the act.
