I am seriously addicted to Viv of Holloway - I own 4 dresses and am awaiting a 5th one!

Can any current owners of Vivien of Holloway dresses (the halterneck full circle skirts) fill me in about the sizing?
What I mean is - have you got a dress in the same size as you normally dress, or are they retro sizes and you've had to go up a size or two?
It's I've been looking at the sizes and the waist sizes all look miniscule for each dress size:
Size 10 Bust 32 Waist 24
Size 12 Bust 34 Waist 26
Size 14 Bust 36 Waist 28
Size 16 Bust 38 Waist 30
Size 18 Bust 40 Waist 32
Size 20 Bust 42 Waist 34
Size 22 Bust 44 Waist 36
Size 24 Bust 46 Waist 38
I'm a 20-22 normally with a waist of 40, though in a corset 36....and I know these have some boning in the tops...so I'm wondering if a 24 might fit me....
So long and the short of it - is your dress your normal size, or have you gone up a size or two?

That's true! I'm a 12 with a waist of 29. Which I always thought was actually quite small for my size. But that would put me at a 16. I've had to buy an 18 anyway though, because of my bust.
It's odd.

I bought one in a 12 (my normal size ish) and it was way too small for me. Am saving it as I got it at a bargain price and it's an inspiration dress for me (or at least something else to sell).

From the measurements Tempest posted, a 12 would be more like an 8.
That could be disheartening when you try and pull it on!

I was a little bit disappointed with the sizing structures for VoH - I ordered what I thought was a 10 in their black satan swing dress but I couldn't even get it over my bum! To confirm I wasn't going mad I had a friend who is a size 6 try it on and it was neat on her so it was certainly not a ten by any stretch of the imagination.
Due to my ridiculous procrastination I never got around to returning it, will need to EBay that sometime soon. I love their stuff but am too apprehensive to look into ordering online again, I'd need to try it on first.

I think I'll have to give it a miss then (all the more reason to follow Midnight Blue's example and getting the sewing machine out). I reckon I'd need a size 26 (which doesn't actually exist, they stop at 24) but then take in the alleged 48 inch bust as I'm only a 40....
Glad I asked though before making a costly mistake. If anyone's interested I just spotted a size 24 (so actual size 18/20?) being sold on ebay by someone who's lost weight, but she said the sizes were on the very small size too

A lot of people are selling dresses on ebay for that reason.

Well If anyone wants to swap a green silk size 14/16 for a 12 let me know
And yes - it was very disheartining. But as it was such a bargain i didn't bother checking the sizing via the Holloway site and just trusted the seller....

I'm a 14 with a 29" waist *and huge hips* so I ordered a 16. Luckily with the swing dress I didn't have to worry about the hip measurements but I wouldn't be able to get away with a wiggle dress because my hips are about a size 16-18 in modern sizes
But yeah they are a bit small but I'm going to cut the tag out of mine
