short music track dilemma..
I have the most perfect track for my routine but it's only two minutes long!! I can barely get my coat off in that time! Well okay to exaggerate but a little, although I really could do with an extra minute or two! Does anyone know any tricks to get more from a track or is it destined to be scrapped from the performance? Any help will be very much appreciated

track help
depending on what the song was but, the easiest way would be to copy to song onto an mp3 or audio file format and have the song place twice,it may obviously cause some problems with lyrics, alternatively , do you know of any musicians that could record an extended version of the song
do you want to send me the song. if you have a copy on cd, and i could see if i could do anything for you

That's really kind of you, at the mo I've only got it on Napster although I've got a CD version buried away somewhere so if I can't find a way to loop it I may take you up on the offer, everyone who's heard it thinks it's perfect so it'd be a real shame to settle for a second best! The lyrics aren't really a problem, just the fading out and intro. xxxx

If you download yourself a little music editing program (I use Audacity) then it should be easy enough to loop it yourself if you want to. Another option is just to use that song as an intro (or ending) and put another short song with it - that can work nicely if you want to change the mood. Or you can always adapt the routine to fit the song - take fewer items off maybe? It's a shame not to use a perfect song, but as I was told by many clever people when I had a similar dilemma, it's better to have a good short routine than a longer one you're not as happy with ...

Cheers Fleur, currently downloading Audacity, I used to have a similar prog. but can't remember what it was called. I have another track also that deff. needs a mood change through it so it sounds perfect for that too

It sounds like just what you need then! I often put tracks together, fade out too-long songs, and it's really easy ^_^

What's the song honey? If it's something older you may find more than one recording of it exists... maybe one a little longer?

I spent 7 hours last night at my ex's house getting my music done for my debut performances. Luckily he is in a band and also studies music tech at uni so he has all the software to do it and we sat down and got it sorted, but it is really hard work!
With what you were saying about it being too short I had exactly the same trouble with my track and he managed (over a looooong period of time and great difficulty) to pick out bits of the track and repeat them tactfully so that its actually repeating verses and chorus too many times without really being able to tell from an audiences point of view ans making the song a minute longer! Perhaps with the right software you could do the same.
Tho I must admit I could never have done it myself, it takes time, patience and knowledge of the software which I simply don't have... but perhaps you are more technologically and musically minded than I am!
Good luck!
