Angry Completely OT: Ending ruiners ...

You know that feeling when you're really looking forward to something like a film, or really enjoying a book, and some smartarse who's already enjoyed it before you decides to tell you the ending? Well that happened to me last night and I just had to rant about it! I've been really enjoying this |TV series my man got me into, and we mentioned that I was, and his mate thought that I must have seen it before and just blurts out the twist in the ending! Oooh I was so irritated! In two words he ended my enjoyment in the series. He tried to defend himself by saying 'well, you know what happens, but you don't know how it happens' - that's not the point! I'd have liked to have been shocked by the shock ending as was intended. But now for some reason I just can't get into the show in the same way as I was yesterday. Other people can be so poo at times!

Oh dear, I sympathise; It wasn't Heroes by any chance was it? - That happened to me and I had a major tantrum about it.

Oh no, it wasn't Heroes - it was something much older and much geekier ... still had a tantrum though!

I don't blame you! I HATE that, it's so mean and frustrating. Grrrr!!! Hope it hasn't ruined it too much, you might be surprised at how it's done. xxxx

Unfortunately I'd kinda predicted something similar happening to what he said, but to a different character, so it really would have been a shock to me - but the fact that I had predicted something similar means that I kinda know where it's going to go and how it'll happen, so that makes it even worse as I'll have no surprise at all. I'm half inclined to stop watching it at all to tell the truth, it's not as much fun any more!

There are forums for so called spoilers. And do they spoil things? As you might imagine, I am addicted to Strictly Come Dancing, the 2007 series had a new format, Saturday night live, Sunday night, the dance off, pre-recorded. I always pre-recorded the show because Bruce Forsythe irritates me so much, and because I am often out, shift permitting, on Saturday night.
But the enjoyment of the show has diminished because of the spoiler threads It quickly spreads from the spoilers to the mainstream and even to texts. So I empathise entirely with you Fleur. Why can't things be left alone for our viewing/reading pleasure?
Put it back as it was and I might even suffer Brucie, well..........perhaps not.
Nice to see you.........................not in your case mate.

Get him back!

He's a bloke, chances are he likes football . . . plenty of ammunition there.

I do sympathise. I bought my mother in law one of those "unlimited" cinema tickets. Her way of repaying me is to tell me the ending to every new film she now sees.

Watched the ending for myself this morning - and didn't enjoy it one bit. It was a pretty horrible experience actually, it was so sad and made extra sad by the knowledge of the unhappy ending all the way through! I felt quite affected afterwards I must say!

My mum's a great one for that - especially with films.

Often it will be something like: "Oh is this the one when he dies at the end?" or "Oh yeah, I remember this - she kills herself, doesn't she?". To which my reply is usually, "I don't know, I've never seen it before - thanks for that!".

I get very excited about endings of TV series that I'm obsessing about but I'm always very careful about spoiling anything because I know how irritating it is!

Nice idea Tas - but none of the men I know are into football actually (which is great as it means I'm not a Saturday afternoon football widow) so that wouldn't work. Some sort of revenge may have to be worked out though ....
