Naive- burlesque music
Ok so this may sound INCREDIBLY dumb but I had to ask.
When you choose a piece of music to perform to....do you:
a) need to seek permission to use it.
b) pay the royality or does the club cover this in their licence.
c) anything else I need to know???
Cheers my lovelies
Love

There was a post - title "Music Query" started by Sweet Scarlet about a week ago - Beatrix Von Bourbon provided information you may find useful. I'm lacking in techie skills to be able to attach the link, but hope you find it!

The discussion lately ended up being slightly confusing, as the whole permission seeking/royalty paying is involved when using a track online for example on a showreel, or on a cd/dvd you're selling, etc. When you are performing at a venue the royalties are covered by the venue's licence.

'Tis true, we venues get a nasty big bill from the Performing Rights Society each year to cover royalties to artistes as a consequence of us playing their music in our venues.
Not sure on whether you have to ask to use their music to perform, think it may depend on whether you're being paid for the performance or not? Contact the Performing Rights Society directly.

Hello the link I started was in the Learning Burlesque section. I too dont have the knowledge to work out how to link two threads!
I was confused because the music I had found I dont think is by a signed band so wasnt sure what the rules were.
