Hello
I am a student in Liverpool studying media. As part of my final year degree I am required to make a short documentary of my choice. As I am interested in the Burlesque scene, I want to do my mini documentary on that. I would love it if I could have an interview with anybody who is a burlesque performer/teacher or fanatic (in the next 2 months), it would just be about the burlesque scene and some history of it and about performing. I hope to hear from you soon.

idea:
an examination of burlesque as a novel entertainment form to an investigation of what burlesque and its popularity can reveal about gender, sexuality and display in our culture over the long 20th century. the documentary will focus on the performers and fans . Drawing on interviews of performers, ages 20 to 80, archival footage of burlesque and historical and sociological accounts of the striptease, the documentary will peel away both sensationalism and the bias against burlesque to tell a tale about an irreverent and powerful entertainment form that continues to raise important questions about women, their sexuality and their public power in our culture. The film will investigate our love affair with burlesque.
thanks for reading.x
