Gehenna you can always council me im a veritable nut bag of loon.
Or maybe im quite ordinary and just make up for it by taking my clothes off in public and having a veried vocabulary and a dry sence of witt and self worth.
Shit i cured myslef, i demand you pay me or i take your wife.
Oh yeah , i take her, i take her to the park and to the shopping center and up a tree and on a roller coaster.
Alien isn't to scary , the birthing scene in knocked up beats it hands down.
Something ripping out of your stomach, try your intamate parts.
maybe that's what scares people, or maybe it's that it's quite falic in shape.
Unt zo , we ze , se alien , with za knashing teeth actually representative of ze penis,
unt the thought of that creature chowing down unt the victim is a paralel with both life and mortality unt the fear that something in life can consume us not only in ze foodchain but on unt emmotional level.

My step daughter just screamed the house down - I think she just had a nightmare. Perhaps it was all the typing of Sweeney Todd, Aliens and Predators. I think I need to keep my tapping down!
She's ok now.

Oh come on! Freud's theories can be summed in by sex and death! I still can't believe that he came up with an entire theory on child development after only studying one child! Although I do like his sneaky way of covering himself: "Whatever do you mean Mr Freud, I can assure you I never wanted to sleep with my mum when I was a child" "Ah, but you blocked it out of your mind so you can't rememebr it ..." So basically the theory can never be disproved. Clever man, that Sigmund!

Alien Vs Predator Requiem... this is a sequel to a crossover to a sequel to a sequel to a sequel to a sequel. There really is nothing like originality!

Wow - I never got told that at College. Where did you read or hear about that? Do you have any comments on the theory of Gestalt as per Perls? I had to read a 'marvelous' book by Peerls on the subject and was less than impresed with some of the experiments suggested.
I had a simlar feeling about Abraham Maslowe and his theories on the Hierarchy of Needs and Self Actulization - his research only covered a small selection of people, some of them being famous historical figures that were dead. Just like Freud and Perls, his theory has been challenged by others.

Errrm ... which bit? The only studying one child bit? I learned about Freud and child development during A Level Psychology - as you can imagine, a class of 17 year olds were not too kindly disposed to being told they had all lusted after their parents at some point, so it was rather amusing! Apparently Freud studied one child (was it Little Hans? I know there was a Little Albert but I seem to remember him being linked to a cruel experiment by another theorist involving sleep deprivation and an iron bar) and this child was particularly odd. He was absolutely terrified of horses, particularly white horses wearing blinkers. Freud deduced not only that the fear of horses was Hans' way of expressing his fear of his father (the blinkers looking similar to the father's glasses), and that Hans was afraid of his father because he feared he would castrate him. And that is where the Oedipus complex was born. You've got to wonder when you hear that! And the theories on girls are rather offensive - and he never studied any female children!
Maslowe's Hierarchy of Needs - yes I remember that. It was mainly used by business students in their research and development assignments, which tells you all you need to know!
As for Gestalt, we didn't learn much about that. It didn't feature much on the syllabus - we learned what it meant and that was about it. But Freudian psychoanalysis helped me numerous times through my degree, so I can waffle on about it for ages. The Oedipal and (especially) Electral complexes are rubbish in my opinion, but a lot of the rest of it just seems to work ...

I learned a bit about Barthes, but didn't really understnad it as we didn't go into much detail. Just a quick mention of the theory of myth. I was more into Structuralism and Saussure. And I didn't get to do the Fairytale module of my degree - having been born in May 1984 I was part of the Guinea Pig Year, and they carried that tradition on into my degree, meaning they decided to stop running every single module and alternate which ones they did run by year, which meant I not only missed out on the Fairytale (the reason i signed up to the course in the first place, grrr!) but also the next year missed British Children's Literature, with a reading list of Poter, Pullman, Narnia and Alice! Gutted ...
