Default Prop Me Up

Carmen Elektra’s Fashion Week performance for underwear company 2xist got me thinking about burlesque props. It’s clear from the Candy Gram interviews that pasties, g-strings, rhinestones and glitter are essential. But what about some of the other props? What are your favorites? The most unique? Hardest to travel with? Here are a few of my [...]

I got fed up worrying about my props getting damaged or lost on the tube so I try and make things that I can fold down and will fit in my bag. I have just made a spear out of a flash mop, some polymorph and some stick back plastic. I am very proud of it and it folds down perfectly and looks the part. Obliviously that can't work for everything but I enjoy the challenge. I was thinking of maybe pimping a camper van so I can travel to all my gigs in it and have my own prop room, kitchen and changing room.lol

My first problem was how to transdport my fans with out damage! This has been solved by the boxes I found that they fit perfectly in!

the problem I am trying to solve at the moment is how to transport a canister of helium gas on the underground! Not sure if this is illegal?

Any ideas or help???

It will not explode as its an inert gas but as its a pressurized cylinder if it got the top knocked off it will take off like a rocket. I think you are best asking London transport.

Well according to the london underground website;

Bylaw 2. Potentially dangerous items Except with written permission from the Operator or an authorised person, no person shall bring with him or allow to remain on the railway any item which, in the opinion of an authorised person, may threaten, annoy, soil or damage any person or any property. For the avoidance of doubt, the Operator may ban, amongst other things, carriage of the following items:
(i) a loaded weapon of any kind;
(ii) any inflammable, explosive or corrosive substance;
(iii) any item which is or may become dangerous.
If any person in charge of an item in breach of Byelaw 2 (1) is asked by an authorised person to remove it and fails to do so immediately, then it may be removed by or under the direction of an authorised person.

You would probably have to ask if the item would be viewed as (iii), although I have a feeling they would view as that. If they say it's ok then try and get a letter from them on headed paper as an ticket inspector may revoke it.
