I'm a romantic at heart and I strongly dissaprove of dating via websites and speed dating or meeting people drunk in a night club. I'm more of a see a girl I like in the street and introduce myself type of guy as I think it makes a nicer story when you're feeding this info back to your kin later in life. Better than "well, I was lay on the floor completely out of my face on tequila and the bouncers were about to throw me out when your dad picked me up off the floor looked me in the eyes and softly said - you'll do, we'll get a taxi back to yours." See it just isn't romantic.

I met my blokey by chance. I put a play on at uni which needed a sofa so we luged the one from home up to the theatre and it just so happened that he was putting on a show after me so got my number from the lecturer and called me up to ask to borrow it....I said yes as long as he lugged it back and gave me vino!

When he bought it back he handed me vino, dropped his ice lolly over me and now it's nearly three years later! It was lust/love at first sight!

I was my husband's kickboxing instructor. Kick someone in the head early on in the relationship and you'll get respect later on lol, hmmm maybe not quite how it works but 7 years down the line we're still very happy

I was actually in a nightclub (a rock club in Plymouth) but I was driving so totally sober and my friend introduced me to this guy, he was a bit bored as he wasn't drinking and not a big fan of the particular club and we got talking about literature, art and burlesque. I had a date early the next morning so I left the club (so glad that one didn't go anywhere!!!). When I got home the following day my chap had tracked down my myspace page (I told him I was a performer and my name and we have a lot of mutual friends). We got talking again and met up a week later and I was kind of swept off my feet! I adore him and so so glad we met, he's most intelligent and caring person I have ever met.

The wierd thing is that I really didn't want to go out that night and I tried everything I could to not go, but I felt bad to let my friends down so I went (it's a 40 minute drive from my house). I was there and I actually left, but when I got back to my car I realised that I had my friends wallet in my bag so I went back to club to give it to her, then I left again but forgot to tell my friend something so went back in for a second time and that's when I met him. So I may NEVER have met him!

Keri - that's the BEST story. I KICKED him and he was mine!!! :-)

I met my husband (to be) when I was failly young. He was staring with eyes agog outside some den of inequity at my visage which was resplendant in a hooped rubber nurses dress (it was 1999 I don't think rubber nurses dresses were as common place then, always a style leader) he asked me if I knew the words to 'do you know the way to san hose' and I did and proceeded to seranade him, he then tried to kiss me and I backed off thinking he was a foul and filthy pervert who was also a little bumptious and egomanical.

We met again at the same bar five years later we had both been to uni, travelling etc, I still thought he was hot but self obsessed and there was the issue that at the time I was going out with his best friend, but he won me over with his charm and his wit (and his large salary) he announced at the end of the meeting that for the past five years he had considered me as his dream girl, and he could never imagine being with someone who ticked so many of his boxes.

I ditched his best friend shortly afterwards and my man (The Count or Chris to his friends) took me out on a date, what followed was a booze bender which lasted the best part of two weeks in which time we had managed to go see Guitar Wolf, dine on chicken a la Henry the 8th (throwing the bones behind us in Nando's) and visit all the theme parks within the Uk we woke up after this time with a hangover and I was sporting an engagement ring. We are still engaged and I am now looking for engagement ring number three which is a Hello Kitty number from Neimen Marcus, I refuse to marry him untill I am satisfied with my ring!

I met my man through a mutual friend who I've known forever (his mum and mine were and still are best friends) and he knew from school. When I graduated and came back to Derby all of my school friends had dispersed and this friend introduced me to some of his - after I'd spent close to two months as a hermit. Anyway, he took me to a mate's house where they were going to play Lord of the Rings Risk (party boys, I tell you), without telling the guy whose house it was, I might add, and somehow convinced me to play. The guy I was sat oppostie was very friendly and smiley, but when he beat me he made a huge display of pointing and laughing at me. The boys later told me this was his way of showing he liked me - a story which always seems to embarrass him nowadays! Anyway, later on he asked me out without really telling me he was - I assumed we were going on a group night out but there was only the two of us. We had a decent night, and a few days later he invited me to his house under the pretence of watching DVDs ... We did some sneaky cloak-and-dagger dating and had a lot of fun before we realised there was something deeper going on. 18 months later we are still going strong, living together, and doing much more interesting things than playing Risk - neither of us ever enjoyed it!
