Swing Burlesque picnic in Regent's Park London. 2.00 - 7.00pm.

Due to the success of the last picnic Lady Jay Dashwood is hosting another. Her Ladyship invites you to join in by dancing in the open-air and this time there will be a Burlesque show staring Miss Diamond Blush and Lord Dashwood, with more guests to be confirmed.

At the last picnic we were treated to a charleston lesson by Rena from 'Jump and Jive' and she will be back for more, so whether you're new to Swing Dancing or you've been doing it for years you will be able to join in.

We may also be be lucky enough to be entertained by the very talented Mr John Barnes and his ukulele.

So please join us for a bit of dancing, the show, croquet, and bring along your favourite cake for some jolly good fun in the afternoon sunshine.

Dress: With an air of decadence, the glamour of the 40's or the confidence of the 50's.

This is a free event!

We will be on the grass outside the Boathouse Cafe and the children's boating lake. The nearest station is Baker Street. Map of the park avaliable at the link below.

Also if you not only fancy joining in but would like to do an act for the show then please let Lady Jay know. She is looking for acts that can be performed in public spaces without upsetting onlooking parents with their children. Therefore walk about characters and circus type perfomances work best.

Hi Everyone. Just an update.

The dance lesson will be held by Taina UK, USA, and Finnish Champion, at 5pm. Taina teaches for the London Swing Dance Society. London Swing Dance Society: swing, lindy hop, jive events and classes in London, UK

Also unfortunatly John Barnes will not be at the picnic but Lord Dashwood will be picking up the Ukulele instead.

Hey Gorgeous, whose Betty Crocker does she bake yummy puddings or is she a homely lady?

I have no particular favourite but love anything with nuts! At the last picnic someone requested Gypsy Tart. As she didn't have time to make it herself she posted the recipie. I think it sound very retro and perhaps comes from WW2 because evaporated milk is a bit old fashioned, but what do I know? I have put the recipe below but think you should make it if you think it sounds good becasue it sounds a bit sweet for my teeth.

1 x 400g (14oz) tin of Evaporated milk.
12 oz Dark muscovado sugar.
1x 10in shortcrust pastry case Pre baked.

Pre heat oven to 200C/400F/gas 6.
Whisk evaporated milk and sugar together for 10 - 15 minutes until light and fluffy. The mix should be coffee coloured.
Pour the mix into the pastry case and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. The gypsy tart will have a slightly tacky surface but will not be set completely until it has been left to cool. Serve cold.

We had scones, cream and fresh strawberrys last time served by Lord Dashwood's Butler. Unfortunatly Dashy couldn't come so he allowed me to bring our butler Wilmott. I will try adding a photo. If I have trouble, Wilmott is not off duty yet so perhaps he will be more sucessful.

Lady Jay Dashwood is hosting another Swing Burlesque Picnic in Regents park. You are invited to join us for some Lindy Hop and Charleston dancing in the open-air and a Burlesque show staring Miss Diamond Blush, and Dillbert and Mulligan. Dillbert and Mulligan are two chums of Lord Dashwood. They will have you entertained with their ukulele and brotherly antics.

TSK! it seems i am destined to miss these picnics, I will be bust kneeling at a bishops feet on Sunday.

I should even be able to make it to this one. May I exchange bubbly for cake? I'm not very good at baking...
