Smile Singing and acts

Hello,

I was wondering if any of you lovely people put singing into your burlesque striptease acts?

If so, what style of singing (pop, classical, etc) and do you sing with a live musician (e.g. pianist) or band, or sing over the top of a recorded track?

Do forgive my curiosity, I'm developing an act which involves classical singing over a recorded track (and doing a striptease at the same time!) and was wondering if anyone else has done something similar?

Thank you so much darlings,

Maiden xoxoxox

The old 'sing-n-fling'! Polly Rae, Ruby Blues and Meg La Mania are excellent at that, and I think a few more of us have used it here and there: I've heard all different styles, jazz, chansons and cabaret standards are probably the most common, but I've heard 80s, Glam rock and many others! I've used the Drinking Song from La Traviata for a Svengali act, Why Don't You Do Right for Jessica Rabbit, and Dream a Little Dream for a fandance... I think using backing tracks are the easiest option cos you can just get a cd from Chappells or iTunes.

It would be really interesting to see the more uncommon styles tackled: mexican Fado songs could be really powerful, or a gentle traditional song could be really beautiful!

Oh, and I once saw someone doing Eminem Burlesque!

I'm planning on doing the singing but without the stripping. I'm quite tempted to work a few numbers in that direction though as I know it would go down very well at some of the venues/events I've worked in the past

Music I enjoy is totally mixed. Styles I'm looking to put in are Eartha Kitt, Norah Jones, Rosemary Clooney, Katie Melua... I guess that's still mixed isn't it!? Something a bit bluesy, dirty or sexy and/or just a little bit fun
