Lightbulb Victorian Values tomorrow (9th Aug)

Hiya,

I have tickets for the show tomorrow night, I know it starts at 8pm, but when does it finish? I'm trying to figure out my journey home, and an idea of timing would be good. Could maybe someone who went to the wednesday night show let me know?

Thank you kindly,
Miss Honey Bare

I went to the show tonight with my husband and apart from recieving a parking ticket, I totally loved it and I'm sure you will have a great time.

The show finished at about 9:30pm so getting back shouldn't be a problem although if you drive there, make sure you park in the proper bays on the road outside and not in the poorly labelled residents section like I did.

Posting onto forums isn't really my thing, but in this case I make an exception because I want to thank Ministry Of Burlesque for the most thought provoking burlesque show I've ever seen. It's just nice to know that some people can think beyond tits and tassels.

Well done to all the people involved and keep me informed when the next one is.

Default Yay Victorian Values-Bloomin Marvellous!

Wow! Just been to see Victorian Values, and was blown away! Really really good. And such a perfect venue-I've always wanted to go to a proper music hall, and my dream came true tonight! If you haven't got a ticket for tomorrow night yet, I suggest you get one quick, if there are any left-it's deffo worth it. And make sure you scream holler and whoop lots!

It was lovely to meet people tonight-Man In a Hat, Lord and Lady Dashwood, to name a few-I was quite drunk, so to all those that met me-please excuse me. I'm quite sane normally. Honest. xx

Was good to meet you tonight and the others, i was all shy and overwhelmed. The show was amazing and the venue was perfect for it. I even enjoyed chatting to the old ladies next to me about what they got up to back in the day, they sure knew how to heckle! I love the MOB. well done to all of you that performed tonight.

I've just merged these two Victorian Values threads into one handy thread!

Sorry to hear about your parking ticket. I nearly got one myself. My parking expired at 5pm and I arrived back at my car at 4:59pm to see a traffic warden (no doubt the same one) hovering over my car. Buggers, the lot of 'em!

Thank you . And I'm sure that Kittie will echo the same sentiments when she wakes up from her well-deserved lie-in. She and Des have been writing the show for several months because she too was getting a bit perturbed by the amount of samey-samey burlesque out there. I think that the (almost) lack of naked flesh in the show shows that burlesque is a much wider artform than many people think. Kittie has actually been interviewed in this weeks Time Out magazine where she discusses this further.

It came true for us too. We've put on a couple of events in Glasgows Britannia Panopticon Music Hall, but Hoxton Hall is rully restored, fully running and (more or less) without any council restrictions.

Tickets are going fast. If they are any still available by 2pm I would be incredibly surprised indeed. There will again be a few walkup tickets, but not many and entry cannot be guaranteed without a ticket.

We still have to meet. Unfortunately my video-camera duties made it impossible to interact with anyone.

I loved the fact that there were so many old ladies in the audience because we were trying to aim the show at people who would remember the heyday of music hall. I've also literally just received a very nice email from one of the aforementioned old ladies - printed below:

"To whom it may concern,

I would like to offer my thanks to everybody at the Burlesque Ministry (sic) for last nights showing of Victorian Values at the old Hoxton Theatre. It has been many years since I last attended this venue and it brought a lot of memories back to me."

She then proceeds to tell us that she is 'not very good at emailing' and her daughter (who also loved the show) is helping her out!

Lies Twinkle you're always like that!!! It was nice to meet people, it was a really mixed crowd which was fun, the woman behind me kept saying how pleased she was that Dashwood took his clothes off "Oh I bet his parents are proud, hes got a lovely bottom" I nearly spat my drink out on the poor man infront of me!!

That is hilarious! In actual fact my parents were there and it was the first time they had seen me perform. Indeed they are very proud although they made no specific mention of my bottom.

It was nice to meet some of you during the interval and after the show, sorry to those I didn't get a chance to chat to and sorry about the parking ticket. Fifi also got one, and she was parked there legally!

I'm really glad everyone liked it, it's obviously a bit different to the kind of burlesque nights everyone is used to seeing and that was obviously the point, but I'm glad to see that it seems to have worked! Well done to all involved and i look forward to seeing everyone who's got tickets tonight.

Default Congrats to all

My little group of friends and I loved the performances -- well done everyone! I think I am not alone in wishing I was part of such a fun show.
We thought it very brave of those who had lines to deliver on stage for the first time. I would love to see how this show could evolve if it could find a longer booking: there seemed lots of opportunity to have fun.

It makes me wish there was a permanent MoB am-dram group which, for those of us with an urge to perform but not yet quite got there, could join for the comfort of working in a group.
If anyone knows of opportunities to get involved with shows like this one for the future, please shout it from the roof tops.
