Dita in Observer Magazine
Dita is on the "This much I know" page in Observer Magazine billed as "Stripper, 34, London".
I'm always a little disappointed when interviews with her reaffirm the mistaken public belief that burlesque is little more than stripping with corsets and big props.

I got that by chance and was really pleased to see her in it! i didn't know she'd had a boob job, makes me feel slightly better at my lack in that dept!!! also, poor her with her exhusband using the marital bed and his wedding ring in his video with his new girlfriend. not that i'm someone who pretends i know these people from reading their interviews in ok etc! but that it fairly out of order.
oh apparently she'll be in the instyle issue of October.

Ha!
Knew she'd had a boob job - have known for ages...
Kinda opposite but complementary to Susie - makes me feel better at having big boobs yet being big all over...both body types are kinda in keeping - i mean it is pretty unusual for a woman to have naturally large boobs coupled with a naturally slender frame...tho Dita's looks quite good and natural which is why you guys didn't guess lol..
Ooh and Susie don't forget to let us know if Thu 12th is still happening - hopefully you got my pm under my new moniker! it is not the end of the world if it doesn't happen cos i have just realised how much i have to do before Sat when i am away for a week but it would just be nice to know - hope if we do all meet the heavens will not open on us for once..gah!

Well I didn't know she'd been enhanced, I thought she was just lucky in the figure department! Her surgeon did a good job.
The whole Manson thing is ridiculous. Everything you hear about him seems to be about how he's constantly having digs at her - and if it's true she's better off without him. The more I hear the more I dislike him and think she made a good decision - but then, the press is notoriously unbelieveable.
But back to the original point of the thread; Sundae, didn't you post up more than that before and have maybe a little rant? Maybe I imagined it, but I'm sure I read some good points in it. Dita has been quoted many times as saying that her job is stripping, and as she started out in strip clubs she seems to just be taking in as many types as she can. I've got no problem with her saying she is a stripper - but if she's saying that all burlesque is merely striptease then yes, that's misguiding. She could be being misquoted, but then, she could actually be saying it. It must be really frustrating for those who don't strip but nevertheless are burlesquers to be classed as strippers - especially when they don't take anything off!

But in answer to the above isn't there a difference between english burlesque and american? I thought from what I have read that the american burlesque is more striptease and english is more parody.
Could someone correct me on this? Most information I have read is more from the US but admittedly website based which I know is not ideal.

I'm no expert - not even close! - but I reread Dita's book last night out of curiosity, and she seems to imply that while US burlesque initially included comedy routines (and that many popular comedians began in burlesque), the stripping was more popular with the audience and kind of took over as the main aspect.

I did have a bit of a rant but edited it because I felt I was being uncharitable (I was in a bad mood at the time). It does get up my nose that the most visible burlesque star in the world is passing off information which, though it is true for her act, isn't true for all of us.
