BOUTIQUE! The First Review...
Hi all!
I just wanted to share my joy at Boutique's first official review of our shows last week in the Brighton Festival. It's been such hard work for me and all the girls and I'm so glad it's starting to pay off!
So here it is...
Boutique!
Boutique Theatre
Luscious ladies prancing around a stage in their frillies; ooh, and they’re giving you a cheeky wink! Sexy and suggestive, these foxy females had their tongues firmly in their cheeks, or poking out at the audience, as they performed naughtily original stripteases, songs, oriental magic, humorous sketches and a couple of vitriolic accordion numbers. The art of holding something back was key to this burlesque extravaganza, an air of knowingness and cynicism imbuing the entire proceedings with a definite edge. Still, the audience threw themselves into it, whooping and cheering at the provocative dancing (don’t worry, girls, you got your sailor) and figure-hugging costumes. A cricket pitch, a carousel, fans, feathers and tassles – all your fancy fantasies, with a drop of irony to taste.
Marlborough Theatre, 4 – 6 and 25 - 26 May, times vary, £8.00 (£6.00), fringe pp10.
ThreeWeeks rating: 4/5
