yes smokey cabarets recreate the past atmosphere of burlesque but this isnt the past. we are not in the past we shouldnt be simply trying to recreate the past but being inspired by it and taking burlesque forwards. i dont want to start arguments cos intellectually i dont have a leg to stand on. im just really miffed.
no i dont smoke. yes a still attend cabarets and other smokey venues at my own neglect. i do feel it must be tough for people who still want to smoke when they are out.
but i dont feel that smoking is 'artistically integral' to a burlesque show. its all in the performers and the people you are with that you can enjoy being with whether drunk or sober, smoking or not.

just voicing an opinion not trying to change others.
