I've been approached about arranging a show for soldiers coming off tour from Afghanistan and Iraq, at their base in Arbroath.

Their budget is limited, but my main concern would be about atmosphere and performer safety. The format is a sit down dinner and stage show, with their wives and girlfriends.

While I don't agree with the governmental decisions to go to war, I see no reason why good quality entertainment shouldn't be provided to the people on the front line of it all.

Has anyone done a military show before? Any advice? Opinions?

Yeah, I did a show last year in Qataar for the same reasons, The show will be ignored because they are all Morons - Take the money and Run.

Performing for a bunch of sexually pent-up men who haven't seen a pair of bazongas for months leads me to think that they might not take the burlesque experience as it's meant to be taken!

Indeed! They assure me that the soldiers would be "well behaved" but I'm not entirely convinced. I fear the difference between burlesque and striptease might be lost on them...

One would hope that the soldiers would all be dressed in their best military tassels and corsets too!

Seriously though - remember the old adage about never working with children or army-nals.

As long as you are in no danger of being mobbed then it could be ace! Id make sure they know what burly entails though, incase they think they are getting something a bit more...saucy, if you get my meaning :wink:
