No your not the only one shocked by this and a bit angry :x to tell the truth! I cant believe people ar selling pointe shoes on ebay! there will be people stupid enough to buy them which is the worrying thing! This seller is being highly irresponsible! 'FASHIONABLE' what next!!!

I started the original thread on pointe shoes as I do feel very strongely about how dangerous pointe work is with out the correct experience!

I purchased my first pair of Gayor's not 100% sure if they are the correct fit thou or whether I just need to get used to them! I'm so used to my Gamba pointes I don't want to change makes! Just finding it very difficult now to get hold of the Gamba's!

Just e-mailed this to the ebay seller!

I could not help notice your pointe shoes for sale! I am shocked that there is not warning in the description that unless you have proper ballet training you could seriously damage your feet! You should be careful selling items like this as 'fashionable' you might get people sueing you when they break their ankles!

I'll let you know if I get a reply or banned from Ebay for sending this email! Lol

I don't know about the particular shoes in question, but I do know that there is a way to train your feet into very very high heels. These are the most extreme of the shoe fetish scene and I'm certain there are wo/men dedicated to training themselves to walk and live their lives in these shoes for much of a day. The feet are treated very lovingly and well cared for in this situation, there is enough out there that if someone has this fetish they are able to be informed and know what they are doing... what to watch for as dangers and so forth..... though there are always people stupid enough to think that if it is out there, that it can be done by them- and without preparation of any kind... these are the kind of people that really need to learn things the hard way.....
really, we are all responsible for ourselves, not the makers of such things. So if someone wears them, falls and breaks her arm- isn't it her own fault for doing so in an uniformed fashion????

Just a thought.

And yes, I have a mild penchant for impractical, beautiful shoes- to the point of teaching myself how to wear for hours and even dance in 6" heels (though not the pointe)....

I want to add that I see this as a different issue altogether- and really when someone is selling any item which is potentially dangerous they should try to add a disclaimer- but of course, I've seen some ridiculous disclaimers (such as instructing one not to put a metal utensil into a toaster)- but people will do anything!!

I'm not saying it's impossible. I just don't think that the designer had walking in mind. Anything that scandalous is meant to be worn sitting (or laying) down.

I have had some pretty impractical and huge shoes in my time, but I have never gone quite so far as these ones! Suppose if you couldnt dance well it would be a good excuse not to get up on the dance floor!

They are truely terrifying. Apologies to anyone who likes them but i do think they are nuts. Also, apologies Frayedknot, the shoes pic was not meant to hijack the thread but to give an example of when unwalk-in-able and potentially dangerous shoes are worn for fashion purposes! I do agree that any point ballet slippers sold for actual en pointe dancing to novices is wrong and irresponsible!

Nice one! Go one better and report the listing to ebay with reasons and they might take it down. Or, if you dont want to send me the link and I will! It bugs me when you see things like this being advertised!
