Well this is the first time I've started a New Topic and I'm a little nervous as I'm still very new at this....

But its really to let people know I may be able to help.

I'm a fulltime camera assistant but I also film things in my spare time too. I have access to equipment at work, anything from cameras to sound and lighting... so if anyone does need some filming doing, depending on whats available at the time at work, I may be able to help.

Also one of my friends is a photographer in his spare time so if anyone needs some portfolio piccies done I'm sure he'd be very reasonable and he's a smashing guy, he took some of me in a show recently, I'll put some of them on my profile once he's finished sorting them out so you can check out his skills.

And lastly, I'm also an artist in my spare time and have recently started doing alot more oil and acrylic paintings so if anyone needs something putting onto canvas I'm your woman!! I do murals too.

Welcome to the site. I am a painter too but have not been doing it for ages and am hoping to start again in the New Year.

Are you familiar with the work of Gil Elvgren? I'm hoping to re-create his work in my own pieces with a modern twist ie adding tattoos and other stuff. I'd still like to keep the style of my paintings true to Gil though. See some examples of his work below.

I'd be interested to see some of your work if you have any captured on camera.

Don't be shy about mailing a new topic. You could set up a topic with something as silly as your favourite colour and people would still reply !! Whats important is that you are chatting to like minded people that love the same stuff you do.

He's a legend thats for sure. I bought a small peel away table calender of loads of his pictures beginning of 2006 and have had the luxury or turning the page every morning and revealing another provocative and beautiful masterpiece one after the other.

The images are not only a tantalising tease but most tell some sort of story and the quality of the art work is incredible. Some of the chiffon dresses and lace detail is very difficult to achieve especially the see through qualities of nylon and he seems to paint it effortlessly. But then I guess practice makes perfect because I keep seeing pictures of his that I've never seen before and I've seen hundreds already !!

Hi Silver

Wow, those paintings are fantastic, I hadn't heard of Gil Elvgren but I will certainly look him up now. I'm just starting to do more figure paintings and really want to do some paintings from photos I've taken at shows and of performers. In the past I've mainly done portraits, murals and cartoons. Its only been the last couple of years I've got more into painting and wanting to do full figures.

I haven't really got pictures on email, I have a portfolio but its in book form. I should really think about changing that.

You have to start painting again though, its so relaxing and the whole Burlesque scene is so inspirational with so many gorgeous and wonderful things it would be silly not to take advantage of putting brush to canvas!!

Are you based in London?

Its funny my first show I did I wore Emerald Green and I nearly took Emerald as part of my name, but am still undecided!! My favourite colour is baby blue!

I'm glad you like Gils work. The first picture must be perfect for you since you love baby blue !! I might reproduce that one in emerald green !! So you are a performer too ?? Multi talented - amazing.

You were born the same year as me too.

I am Cheltenham based. I will eventually put brush back onto canvas but its just a matter of finding time and I do find it very relaxing. I used to do alot of life drawing in college and found it both exhausting and relaxing.

Sorry Silver, I can see on your profile you're Cheltenham based... it was long day the other day!

I did my first performance last week and loved it!!! Am just trying to organise meeting up with my fellow troupe members to talk about our future and see if we can dazzle some more people with a fantastic new routine! So watch this space, I'll keep you posted.

Ah and so a fellow 30 year old... when's your birthday? I'm certainly going for making my 30s the best years yet! I feel like everything is starting now!!
