.my fingers tapping on the keyboard as I write about scanning warships for diving.

It's more interesting than it sounds. It was that or go to see Cherie Blair give a talk and I fancy stayign indoors, it's cold in Glasgow today.

I've also been listening to PR people trying to interest me in their press releases, and phones ringing. What a wild life I lead.

Its more wet than cold most of the time.

I lived in Aberdeen for a year and it was colder but at least it was dry!

Roxy Music- Flesh + Blood, Frida- I know there's Something Going On (just that one track mind- Drum spectacular by Phil Collins and written by Russ "Rainbow-Since You Been Gone" Ballard (hey it was recorded in 1980/81 (can't be bothered checking) when Frida from ABBA went solo.) I'm going through a Vinyl period right now. Next up, Fleetwood Mac. Oh yeeaaaah it's the home of smoove groove frilly collared borderline bad taste RIGHT HERE in cosmopolitan Edinburgh.
Still beats the faint strains of Christian rock from my flatmates room. "Ho-leeee, He is HO-leeeee."

When you say 'dry' do you mean properly dry, or simply dry in relation to Glasgow?

I went to Aberdeen with an ex-girlfriend several years ago. I remember going for a 'romantic walk' down the beach in a force 10 gale. The rain was coming down so hard that it actually hurt my face and eyes and it was impossible to see more than ten feet in front of you.

In the end we took shelter in the Harry Ramsdens fish and chip shop on the beach. This was bad for two reasons:

1. I HATE fish and chips.

2. I gave a couple of quid to a junkie so he could buy a nice refreshing cup of heroin tea, and he instantly decided to became my 'best friend'. Not only did he insist on giving my a cassette tape of the semenal Colour Me Badd hit 'I Wanna Sex You Up', but he bravely offered to fight anybody who looked at me. Children included!

I promise you proper dry, although it never is by the sea, spray and the like - more in the city centre.

And of course at the sea you get a right breeze.

But compared to Glasgow it hardly rains. In fact it rains twice as much on the west coast as on the east. Fact.

Now I'm in Glasgow I carry a brolly or have a coats with hood wherever I go, even in summer.
