Default Any unwanted items?

Hello,

I would like to begin practising in the realm of Burlesque. Unfortunately my job is v. low paid it's embarassing!

I was hoping that if anyone had any goodies that they were meaning to throw away or pass on that you might be kind enough to donate them to me.

If you are interested, which I'm sure the majority of you aren't, then pm me. The stuff I've found is expensive in relation to the amount I earn and the dispoable income I have.

I hope someone may be able to help. I already know and own some poi and devil sticks that could be inclusive of my dance routines.

Thank you very much so,

Jenna Jones

Hey Sweetie, I have nothing to offer you I'm afraid (being also embarrassingly new to this whole shebang, and depressingly poor), but I am somewhat of a Bargin Queen (I get it from my Dad, he can shop at an Olympic standard), so if I find anything interesting I'll certainly pass on my sources!

I bought a pair of boy style womans pants from Asda then bought some black and green netting for a £1 a metre and made my own frilly knickers! All for under 35 and i still have netting left for other projects!

Primark have some great lingerie in a the moment! they have basques style corsets for £8 in a lot of different colours. . . these would be a great in expensive start to a costume!

Cheers ladies,

Yeah, I started checking out ebay and other sources after posting this.

Has anyone ever made their wn ostrich feather fans or should I just leave this for the professionals?

Found good website $18 for 6/7 of feathers all vibrant colours.

Thanks again

keep an eye out for sales at ostrichonline

i got two giant fans for the price of one a few months back. they have sales every now and then.

I agree with the ebay suggestion. and customising. Primark is brilliant for little touches and the corsets are unbelievable good for £8!

Depends on what size of fans you are looking for and also quality of the feathers!

The quality of my feathers on my first fans were not very good. . one of the problems with ordering on-line. . . however I now have a supplier of beautiful feathers at a reasonable price. . . . however I have to by in bulk to get the discount.

I am planning to make and sell fans. . . very soon.

There is a long thread on this forum about fans will info on making then etc. I will try and find it later and post it here for you to take a look at.

If you plan to make them let me know and I will give you some tips.

Hey sweetie.
Just had a look through this this thread and I agree with the other girls. I got a lot of my early stuff off ebay and I now make / customise my own costumes. Primark is def an excellent source for cheap basic clothes to decorate yourself. Also, I make nipple tassels and feather fascinators, starting at £8 for the budget burly babe, have a look at my myspace (website coming soon). Finally, as Miss Blush said, we all had a long discussion on the forums a couple months ago about making fans, as a few of us we trying it at the same time and you'd probably find that a lot of help if you can track down the thread. Good luck!

Rock on Primark!

Also, Matalan and George at Asda.

Don't forget charity shops-they really are the penniless burlesque performers' dream! You find all sorts of stuff there and whats really nice is that you're unlikely to see anyone else wearing what you've bought AND you're helping out a good cause. What more could a girl want?! x
