Default I am very glad the MoB site is here. . . .

To me the Ministry of Burlesque site is very much a community and heart and soul of many peoples love of burlesque. The site is a great place to meet and chat with people and also find out lots of information relating to the burlesque world!

Kittie and James do a great job of running the site and MoB events and helping to promote burlesque to the masses. They are also committed to helping new people find their feet in the burlesque world in a safe environment for which I take my hat of to them.

Over recent weeks there have been a number of posts relating to events/acts etc which people have not heard of and have been a bit vague. Further questions/clarification from the posters of these events/requests for acts etc has been asked and need to be asked to help the community. A number of performers on this site have posted at one time or another having had bad experiences at events. This community is here to help people to perform enjoyably and at the end of the day safely.

It greatly upsets me that people who put posts up on the site. . who are then asked for additional information as the initial posts are vague and sometimes contradictory. . . then go on to insult the 2 people who have put so much time and energy into running this community!

I don’t know about other people but this makes me mad! :x

Kittie and James thanks guys you are both doing a wonderful job for the Burlesque community! Long may it continue.

Miss Blush x

aww, sniff. Thanks for the support Miss Blush. Much appreciated.

All feedback (good and bad) is most welcome. We want this community to be strong and confident to ask questions, give honest answers and for these forums to continue to expand in to a real wealth of knowledge from informed people with respect for one another.

xx

Thumbs up

Given the nature of a current thread on the forums, I thought I'd bump this thread from 2006.

In my opinion, asking questions is always better than letting excitement guide you into jumping into something with your eyes closed, especially when it comes to making business decisions.

If I'm ever confused about a situation, whether it's what time to arrive at a show I'm due to perform at, or whether it's regarding paying tax at UK or an overseas rate, I always ask. I know that sometimes it makes me come across as a pain in the bum, pestering people with (what may be considered) irritating questions, but we've all got to look out for ourselves.

How do you all feel about asking questions, publicly or privately? Have you ever felt too intimidated to ask? Or scared that you'll insult somebody? Conversely, do you always ask, regardless of the nature of your query??

I'm a bit worried about asking questions that mark me out as a newbie - so I normally e-mail other performers about them before asking organisers. Just to avoid sounding like a complete idiot Luckily I've always had some very helpful responses which is fantastic.

And I couldn't agree more with Diamond Blush about the MOB site

I agree also, love this place and these people. I've been involved in burlesue for quite some time but only recently started posted on here and I have found it a wealth of great people and great oppertunities.

I've found everyone very supportive and friendly and have never been worried about asking questions, or mailing someone. If a promoter is unwilling to answer your questions then its prolly best to stay away from them.

I agree that MoB is such a fantastic place. As Diamond Blush said james and Kittie deserve huge thanks, as do all the moderators. But everyone one else on here who cheers others up, offers advice, support and help also deserves a thank you. To me, that is pretty much everyone who posts on here. Thank you to all of you.

It's a shame I haven't met many of you, I would love to meet more of you as I feel I have made some great friends on here.

In regards to questions, I can be very shy and really worry about asking questions in every day situations such as shopping. However I always feel very comfortable doing so on here. Everyone is so helpful, I guess I know I don't need to worry about people judging me.

Big hugs to everyone!

In complete agreeance,

MOB is such a constant in my life as are the people in it.
Im very greatfull for the forums and for the support i recieve.
Now i am in a position where i can help new performers gain experience,
I can help find established acts for shows, gigs for friends,
props for newbies, and even find the right artists and photographers.

But that only comes with networking, knowing who's who and who lives where.
And having a genuine interest.
Iv'e no interest in performers with bad attitudes or promoters who don't deliver because in the end people talk, ( mostly on here ) and they are always outed.
So my advice would be to treat the forum with respect.
Treat other users as you would wish to be treated yourself.
So ask away, alot of the time if you search the topic the answers maybe there already. Moberaters don't bite, and people are here to encourage the continuing growth of burlesque in the uk,,, and the world
