Hi,
I want to make fans for a fan dance, however the only way I know how to do this is by putting all the feathers into a material base which you then hold therefore limiting the range of movement available. I would really like to know how to make Dita style fans were you just slip the fans between your fingers and use them as an extension of your arms therefore leaving a fuller range of motion. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

i think i posted a similar thread quite a while back and there was a lot of helpful advice. Try hunting through some of the older posts on the forum cos theres been quite a been said about fans. not sure how long old posts stay on here though. instead of attatching the feathers ti material them to wooden staves and either fix all the staves so they make a fan shape or put a screew through them so they open and close.

Thanks very much I will have a little snoop around. I have found a site for buying staves but I want to shop around to get the most for my money as I figure I will make many mistakes in the making of these things!
