I'm looking for a giant cake to jump out of for a routine for my boyfriends birthday, i have absolutely no idea where to find one, and i dont want to ask my dad to build me one!

Im not sure giant cakes are the kind of things that just come off the rail. I think your best bet is to make your own unless you can find someone with the expertise to make one for you? Some wire, cardboard, paper, paint, im sure you could put something together.

You can hire one from www.themetraders.com, but it's not cheap! Probably better to ask your dad to build it.

Coming to think of it, have any of you ladies ever done a show like that? If so, could you give me advice on doing it, whats should i know and be careful about, stuff along those lines. Its my first ever appearance and i dont want it to look silly.

I havn't come out of a cake but I did come out of a birthday present. It was at Rock City for their 25th Birthday and was incredible fun. As the club had set it all up I did not get the opportunithy to rehears, which made my quite nervous. I didn't actually know what was going to happen with the papaer breaking, would I get out easily? would I struggle and it would look messy? It was infront of 1000 people to add to it all.

I even if you just use newspaper as a tester definetly do a tech run of bursting out as this will really set your mind at rest. Also think about being transported in your cake. Will everyone come to you when you are inside and ready? or will your cake have wheels? Mine present had weels but no breaks which was very challengin and I had a big burly roady on each side to help me.

Experiment with mirror work of a vid camera to see what kind of shapes work witht the style of a piece. Good luck and have fun with it, as this is a really fun show to do. X

thanks for all the help and advice, but sadly the show wont be happening, as my boyfriend, of two years dumped me so he can be "free" at university. I am full of alot of hate right now, but at least i know he wont find many other girls who would do that for him.

Sorry to hear about your situation. . Just remember this, you won't die from it and as they say, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
I think this would be a great time for you to put your excess energies into creating something burlesque-tastic. You would be amazed at how creative you can be when negative energy is re-directed in a positive way.
