Default Ballet shoes

As you may know, Vixens in Silk are having their debut at the Golden Lotus Cabaret Burlesque on September 17 at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester.

It should be a great night and we are just putting the final touches to our routine.

I am planning on wearing ballet shoes for the act, but wanted to seek some advice before I buy them.

My feet are size 3 and I'm looking to buy cheap normal ballet pups which I'll sew elastic and/or ribbon into. I know I can get okay ones on eBay, but I have been getting conflicting advice on whether they should be a size bigger or smaller than my shoe size.

Any tips or suggestions for where else to get shoes would be appreciated.

Thanks so much, and hope to see some of you at the show!

Hi Sweetie,

Best advice if your buying for the first time is to find your local dance shop and go and try some different makes on.

I use Gamba normal ballet shoes and i'm a size 7 1/2 and i'm also a 7 1/2 in their pointe. . . however in normal shoes i'm a 7.

hope this helps.

Miss Blush x

ballet shoes are such a personal purchase - you'd be mad to buy with out trying on unless it's a repeat of the exact same shoe!

My pointe shoes are a size 1.5 and my normal soft shoes are a 2.

Blush is right - visit your local. There is one on Rose Street (far end, away from Jenners etc) in Edinburgh as i believe that's where you live?

Soft ballet shoes are inexpensive anyway, so i don't see why E-bay would be of any real advantage.

Thank you so much for your tips.

I'm in Glasgow but go through to Edinburgh quite a bit so shouldn't be a problem getting them in time for the gig.
