What are your thoughts?

Hi to everyone,

Ok down to brass tax's.
I'm starting to collect all my burlesque things for photo's and i want to become a performer, i have a show i wanna do and everything.
My query is, am i to big to do this?

I'm a uk size 16-18. So i'm very curvy, i have my fairly large bust and then my waste go's in abit and then i have my hips, my tummy isn't flat down like a ironing board but its not like a tyre.

if i wear a good fitting corset of course that holds me all in.

But just didn't know if that would matter, i'm not like ashamed of my body, i love having a shape to me.

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on that.

Certainly not! The great thing about burlesque is that it's performed by people of all shapes and sizes. Fans find it rather refreshing that they're not faced with an endless supply of carbon-copy 'bleached blonde bimbos'.

As long as your act is good, then you will be appreciated.

It's all about the act, if you have a great act, then you'll be loved. People come to Burlesque shows to see a show, not to see how you look naked, so hold that head high, put on a great set and bow for the applause!

I'm pretty bootylicious myself.
One of the things taht first drew me to burlesque was the massive diversity of performers.
Curvy girls are quite celebrated in burlesque.
One of the U.S troupes being fat bottom review.
And winner of errotic award and all around fabby lady Dirty Martini.
Burlesque clothing is fantastic as not only can a nicely fitted corst or bask show off your assets it flatters your frame.
And the right pare of french knickers make your deriere look like it exercises.

If you can get a copy try and find
burlesque the new bump and grind
it's a short read and full of lushious pics.

And funnily enough, when you hold your head up high you'll look good naked anyway! It's a lot to do with confidence.

Im a non-anorexic male burlesque performer and its absolutely liberating and fantastic to be able to strip on stage and NOT be the perfect size or have flawless skin.

Burlesque is very amateur at heart. Its about everyday people doing extraordinary things.and.well being entertaining! If people want strippers, they go to stripjoints.

Chesk out Dirty Martini and The World Famous Bob's websites, and footage of them on YouTube. These women are at the top of their profession, and they are gloriously abundant! The average British woman is a size 16 - be proud of what you have to offer!

Someone asked a similar question on a thread a while ago and the overwhelming response was that you should use what you have got, and that every type of body is a good type of body! Don't worry!
