hello. i'm off to my first burlesque party v.soon and could do with some outfit advice. i can't really afford anything flash but am hoping there must be some shops in London where i can find inspiration and affordability?
also i could do with some pointers for really getting the burlesque theme right. (especially accessories&shoes).
sorry if i'm asking alot but i'm new to this (and very excited about it.) thanks!

Depends how brave you're feeling I guess.

Corset, cute little hat, killer heels, scarlet lippy - always turns my head anyway

Can't help with shops in hampshire, but lots of places in London to trawl around for interesting odds & ends.

Good luck!

It depends on what you're wanting. If you're not wanting to go in the corset direction, http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/ has some really nice dresses.

If you have plenty of time, trawl round some charity shops! Seriously, ive got some of my best burlesquey bargains in charity shops, they often do house clearances and you can get genuine vintage bargains! I once got about 4 pairs of genuine 50s/60s gloves including some gorgeous pale green kid gloves for around £2.50 and ive also picked up stockings still in their packets, old diamante jewellery, big sparkly brooches and necklaces, vintage style hats, scarves and shawls, i even got a saucy satin pencil dress for about £4 and picked up some amazing designer 70s dresses. Its great if youre not too proud to wear second hand stuff, its no worse than buying on ebay or a vintage clothes store and youre giving to charity and the same time. Its win win!
