Default clothing survey

Heya all,

I'm doing a little survey and was wondering if you guys would mind answering a few questions.

1) Do you make your burlesque outfits or purchase them generally?

2) If you make them, is it because you are crafty and enjoy making stuff or because you can't afford to buy new outfits?

3) If you buy new outfits, where are they from? E.g charity shops, ebay, independent designers etc

4)What item of clothing do you spend the most money on? e.g shoes, corsets etc.

Thank you guys!

Default Make vs. Buy Outfits

Hi Ruby,
Thus far, I've been pretty lucky. Get a few good 'base' items from charity shops and then go crazy with a sewing machine, glue gun and tonnes of sequins. When I started doing burlesque, I worked at a vintage clothing store so I was set. I managed to pick up a black sequined bra which I made some black pants with black sequined trim. Picked up a couple frocks and crinolines too. Since I've been here, Primark has been great for underthings. Just add a bit o' trim and ta-da, you've got yourself an outfit. So in a long winded way, I mostly make my costumes/ at least augment the ones I buy.

Well I have been buying items including corsets. However this week I have been on a rather fabulous corset making course! I will therefore be making my own from now on!

I am also planning to try and make my own fans and tassels!
