Hello,
I'm a dancer in a regular topless cabaret in Houston. I sent my little performance resume to a couple of the Burlesque Houses here. Lo and behold, I was offered an audition! Yes!

While I am very excited, I don't know how to go about preparing for it. The audition is at a gym. . .in public. How does that affect things? Also, if there are any cliches I ought to avoid, feel free to clue me in. I primarily am asking what the producers are looking for.

First off, LOVE the name! I'll bet nobody else has that name. Fantastic!
From my experience, 2 things: Make eye contact (not in an uncomfortable kind of glaring way but friendly-like) and the other, try to be yourself! Sometimes, I find if you get to see the others in the audition process, either do the opposite of what they're doing or add to what they're doing whichever is more YOU and try to stand out in some way. I went to an audition once for a show which explored sexuality and they wanted presenters all the other ladies showed up dressed as sexy librarians and I went TOTAL burlesque, boa, fishnets, sequins. I didn't get the part I auditioned for but they were so impressed, they asked me to do a burlesque section in the show! Hope this helps.
